Building a boot USB, DVD or CD based on Windows 7 with WinBuilder and Win7PE SE Tutorial, writes by irongeek. Here in pdf

Win7PE SE - PreRequests Notice (*)
Win7PE SE project is based on PE environment and will use a Windows7 SP0 or SP1, Architecture x86 or x64 DVD.
It is better (recommended) to have the DVD copied in a folder on your hard drive.

Win7PE SE comes as a base with only a minimal of applications. Take pleasure to personalize it and to add your script and applications.

Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool

Additional Packages:
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver x86/x64 (Extract to ...\Projects\Win7PESE\Drivers\ folder)

You can use the drivers from Driverpacks.net (check Win7PESE->Drivers->Driver Integration & Driver Package Installer)

History:
Yahoouk first project 'Win7PE' continued with improvments to 'Multi7PE'. Sadly Yahoouk had to leave (lack of free time)...
JFX continue Yahoouk's work with great enhancements and made 'Multi7PE SE' project, Sadly JFX forced to abondon his great project...

A big thanks to the precursors Yahoouk's and JFX's great work  to build this simple and healthy base who given many ideas and inspiration to others.

I continue JFX's 'Multi7PE SE' project, to 'Win7PE SE'

And Many people support these Heros on their developments.

Thank you very much to all who help to make live this project and to make it better.

Happy Testing & Using, I hope you like .

Note: In case of trouble to mount, unmount the wim files with MS drivers, I advise to use the "Extract Wim Folders" in Utils folder.
Safer, more reliable, it will offer you faster buildings

To give a more appropriate name in the folder Debug and have a common name with Gena project.
It was renamed in Utils (tools already used)
http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=156.0
After updating the project, it is then necessary to deleted the old Debug folder.

Hi Chris.  If you're still using mediafire for your archive postings and are experiencing problems with it, I just want you to be aware that my offer to Galapo of a subdomain on my server is open to you as well.  See this forum topic.  Just an option for your own consideration.  Entirely up to you, of course.

Hi Arvy,

Thank you very much for this offer , very interresting indeed to be able to put Win7PE_SE_aaaa_mm_jj.7z package(s) on your server rather than mediafire, which seems to cause difficulties for some people.

FYI, I think do an update in 1 or 2 weeks.

I'd be happy to set up a subdomain for you and PM you with your own FTP login details as I did for Galapo.  Would win7pe.virtech.org be okay as the name for your subdomain (using lowercase only on *nix servers avoids confusion) or would you prefer something else?  And are you familiar with using FTP client apps for file transfers, folder management, permissions, etcetera, or do you need some assistance getting started?

win7pe.virtech.org is perfect for the subdomain name.
I'm not familiar with the permissions, but I think this is not too complicated. May be need a little assistance at startup.

thank you again for this offer  :great:

You're more than welcome.  It's already done.  The new http://win7pe.virtech.org/ subdomain is up on my server and ready for you to use whenever you wish.  I've PMed the FTP login details to you.

You should not normally need to worry about file and folder permissions (chmod settings) just for simple uploads and downloads, but if you do need any assistance getting started, I'm happy to help in any way I can.

P.S.: I just made up that top right logo from bits and pieces that I had on hand.  I didn't know what you were using, if anything.  In fact, everything that I put up there is just a temporary place holder until you decide what you want to do with it.  Feel free to wipe it all clean and start over from nothing.  I'll help if you want help, but otherwise it's your server space.

P.P.S.: Just to give you a little bit of a head start and save you some FTP time, I've uploaded your existing 2011-05-20 archive to the new subdomain for you along with a 2011-06-28 "snapshot" taken from the win7pe.winbuilder.net/SE server.  They're listed on the navigation menu under Downloads > Win7PE Archives and they can also be downloaded with direct URL links from anywhere else.

Hi Chris,

one minor thing,
with latest homes32's wimutil update,
I believe, not tested:
hostosx86 - using sourcex86 ==> out of box working :)
hostosx64 - using sourcex64 ==> out of box working :)

tested this one  :embarrassed::
hostosx64 - using sourcex86 + extractedwimfolders ===> verrrrry close out of box working

error happens not finding \Tools\Win7PE_SE\x64\bcdedit.exe
but \Tools\Win7PE_SE\x86\bcdedit.exe is enough

I made dirty workaround test copying bcdedit.exe (x86) from source to \Tools\Win7PE_SE\x64\
as a result:
hostosx64 - using sourcex86 + extractedwimfolders ===> out of box working

ps: here hostos is nt5x  :whistling:

I added the line in CheckBCDedit section of preconfig
If,Not,ExistFile,%Tools%\%OSArch%\bcdedit.exe,If,%SourceArch%,Equal,x86,,FileCopy,%InstallSRC%\Windows\System32\bcdedit.exe,%Tools%\%OSArch%

So now
hostosx64 - using sourcex86 + extractedwimfolders ===> out of box working

Thanks

In addition to updating your package downloads page on the win7pe.virtech.org subdomain as promissed, I also made one minor correction for your new setup under the Projects folder there.  You had added an extra subfolder so that all of your project's contents were located in a /Projects/Projects subfolder of the subdomain.

Assuming that wasn't what you actually intended, I bumped that subfolder's contents up a notch for you.  And I also used the winbuilder tools to create an on-site index listing for the project which can now be seen at http://win7pe.virtech.org/Projects/

__
P.S.:  The links to the project files listed in that index work fine.  (And folder browsing can be permitted too if you want it.)  But, if you have no objection, I think I'm going to modify the CSS style for those ghastly purple table backgrounds.  Sheesh!  No puke icon here, but :hmm:

Thank you Arvy for the double projects folder .

The upload scripts in http://win7pe.virtech.org/Projects/ are up to date .
By the cons, the On-site index listing is out of date. the version number is that of the script inside win7pe.winbuilder.net no longer updated since ~ 3 weeks.

Very well for the links to the project files
the CSS style must be included in blindexhtml.exe (blueLife index html generator), but on my side, I do not see any problem to change the css style.

I generated brand new index.html and updates.ini files directly from your Projects folder on the virtech.org server.  So they should be consistent with the actual contents now located there.  Did it not pick up the current versions correctly?

Ooops!!!  Sorry.  I see what I did wrong.  Entirely my fault.  Should be fixed now.  And I changed those table colours to match the  rest of the site better.

Do you want to allow people to browse the contents of the project folders when they click the folder links in the index?

@ChrisR

i think in the post 1 the Win7PE_SE_2011_07_22 archive download link is wrong,
maybe also on msfn.org

there are 'Win7PE_SE.zip' and 'Win7PE_SE_2011_07_22.7z'
but there is no 'Win7PE_SE.7z'
on the server 'win7pe.virtech.org'

Regards,
dera

Mea culpa.

Not sure why that download link is different from the one Chris posted elsewhere.  No doubt he'll fix it when he gets back.  He has been on vacation for some time now and, when my hosting service threatened me with suspension of my entire account unless certain files were removed "forthwith" from the downloads, I had no choice but to comply in his absence.

Since my automated on-server "packaging" script can't handle 7-zip format (only zip and gzip) that's the only way I could re-create that download package in the circumstances.

i will state the other half of my post later after responses  , i mean the basic reason why i asked this question/

hi maanu,

better ask on another topic ;) this topic is for "Release" things  :whistling:

reconfiguring your question to "how small W7PE SE can be", just play with script selections, unselect as much as you can with enabled penetwork, (do not forget maximum at 3- PostConfig), you will get your answer  :great:
