You need to give the build type and the arch.
I'e Win10PESE x64.

Open up the provide folder button and insert your files in that location.
ila_rendered
They should look something like that while viewing the zip file.

In your build while viewing your plugin hit the green arrow play button.

You will be able to view the log the see what is going wrong. (Easiest way)

Hopefully this helps

A picture is worth a 1000 words.  In the pic it shows you have put the
files in the WinPE32_64 folder. Put the files in the Acronis_DiskDirector_Files_WinPE
folder. That should solve the problem. Just one folder up.   :scooter:

@Prz42,

Appreciate your assistance.

I now have three errors

Code: [Select]
[Failed]  (Acronis Disk Director_WinPE.Link Acronis Disk Director WinPE) Retrieve - Failed to retrieve the file version from: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win8PESE\Programs\Acronis\DiskDirector\DiskDirector.exe] - File does not exist:
[Failed]  (Macro_Library.script) Retrieve - Failed to retrieve the file version from: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\Acronis Disk Director_WinPE\WinPE32_64\fltsrv.sys] - File does not exist:
[Failed]  (Macro_Library.script) Retrieve - Failed to retrieve the file version from: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\Acronis Disk Director_WinPE\WinPE32_64\snapman.sys] - File does not exist:

There are notes about the last two in the instructions.txt file so hopefully I will be able to resolve those myself.

Not so sure about the first error though.

The file DiskDirector.exe is located in the following directory on the computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\DiskDirector

But it seems that the script is not locating the file. I tried copying DiskDirector.exe into the 'Provided files' folder but that was not the answer.

I just download the plugin
http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=1047.msg20339#msg20339
I ran it and didn't get any error messages.
I did exactly what you did and only put the WinPE64.zip in the provide folder.
Then ran the plugin with Win8PESE x64. I have attached the log file.

Your log file doesn't have any errors or warnings whereas mine does.

I'm no expert when it comes to plugins, but the issue seems to be here

Code: [Select]

[Warning]  (Macro_Library.script) Reference to undefined variable: [%ProgramEXEVer%]
 [Warning]  (Macro_Library.script) Reference to undefined variable: [#$q/AutoIt3ExecuteScript#$q #$q%BaseDir%\Temp\Win8PESE\Macro_Library\Change_INI_Value003.au3#$q /WBValueWrite #$qProjects\Yomi\AppsGS\HD Tasks\Acronis Disk Director_WinPE_Prz42.Script#$q #$qInterface#$q #$qP_Version#$q #$q/v=%ProgramEXEVer%#$q]

Which results in this error during the execution of the script

Code: [Select]
Run - Processing section: [WriteSettings] From file: [Projects\Yomi\AppsGS\HD Tasks\Acronis Disk Director_WinPE_Prz42.Script]
  [Echo,"Registering components..."]
 [Info] Registering components...
  [Retrieve,FileVersion,%Target_Prog%\%ProgramFolder%\%ProgramEXE%,%ProgramEXEVer%]
[Failed] Retrieve - Failed to retrieve the file version from: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win8PESE\Programs\Acronis\DiskDirector_x64\DiskDirector.exe] - File does not exist:
  [ChangeInterface,Write,Value,,,P_Version,%ProgramEXEVer%]
[Warning] Reference to undefined variable: [%ProgramEXEVer%]

In your log file %ProgramEXEVer% is resolved
Code: [Select]
Run - Processing section: [WriteSettings] From file: [%BaseDir%\Projects\MyPlugins_Direct\Apps\HD Tasks\Partitioning\Not Used\Acronis Disk Director_WinPE_Prz42.Script]
       [Info] Registering components...
[Success] Retrieve - Sucessfully retrieved the file version from: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win10PESE\Programs\Acronis\DiskDirector_x64\DiskDirector.exe] to variable: [%ProgramEXEVer%] with result: [12.0.0.3270]

But for me the variable is not resolved, so that seems to be the problem.

But why the variable is not being resolved is beyond my knowledge level.

I can see that we're using a different image OS.

I'll attach the full log file in the hope that the answer is in there somewhere

I can see a lot of Macro errors. If it were me I would do what Lancelot told me
to use

Clear:
Whatever way you use, when there is a failure,
 First thing to do,
   Update project, and test again,
Update project : means using  Utils\Update xxxxxx --> "Update" button

Info Already Available at FAQ

:turtle:
Sometimes you can just update your Macro File, but Update button is
the best.  It looks like someone put a lot of time and effort into Update
as it keeps all your settings.
Macro Library (ML) is in build.

Also I am sure that DiskDirector.exe is in that location.
F:\Win8PE\Target\Win8PESE\Programs\Acronis\DiskDirector_x64\DiskDirector.exe] - File does not exist:

Good luck and let us know if I helped.

@Prz42,
quick try to find out if it's possible with the right files + Reg keys

@Prz42

First off would like to say that I really appreciate your persistance.

Sometimes you can just update your Macro File, but Update button is
the best.  It looks like someone put a lot of time and effort into Update
as it keeps all your settings.

I did this and the Update plugin completed without error

However unfortunately the behaviour of the Acronis Plugin has not changed, it still complains about the DiskDirector file (even if I copy the file across manually to the target directory myself) and the other macro errors are still occurring as well.

Is there some sort of diagnostic process I could follow to try and shed some light on why the macro errors are occurring. It seems that there must be something wrong with my environment.

Regards
VW

So just curious did the PE that you built work?
I see the same error messages. I am sure that you
probably did a new complete built and just not run
the plugin. After so many problems I also delete
these folders ISO,Logs,Mount, Pictures,Temp & Target.

I don't know if that makes any difference? I also get my
source files with the shortest path. Put the host temp
folder as Windows/Temp, probably doesn't make any difference.

As far as the Winbuilders errors to make them disappear
there are probably wiser people on the forum than me.

There shouldn't be any error messages for deleting files!

Here is my log file running Acronis Disk Director WinPE
with Win8PE SE

Revisited plugin and added x64 priority. Also
if you have Acronis Disk Director 12 installed
on Host Machine it will import files and serial #
just by running plugin.
Hopefully this will solve VeeDub problems.

@Prz42
Yes the PE does build and run OK.

Although unfortunately somewhere along the way some scripts that I had previously written for Win7PE and which were working before I started troubleshooting this plugin have now stopped being executed (for reasons that are not clear to me). There are still entries in the build log for the scripts, but the applications files are no longer being copied and the shortcuts are not being created. I'm pretty sure this happened after clicking on the 'Update' button and unfortunately the restore didn't undo the changes so that is annoying as now I have two issues rather than one.
If you have any ideas about this, that would be great, but if not, I'll deal with that later.

Still when things don't work you have to try things and sometimes making changes breaks things :(

So I'm trying to think what else I could try to fix the issue with DD12, as this is a utility that I would like to have in the build.

I am currently building Win8PE SE on a Windows 7 x64 system. Is this supported/recommended or would I be better off building on a Win8 system? And if that were the case (i.e. I am going to need to setup a new VM) would I better off switching to Win10?  I'm not mad keen to do this as I will need to download some new ISO's but if this is the best option long-term then I may as well switch now.

Alternatively if Win8PE SE should build fine on my existing Win7 x64 VM, is it possible that you could add some diagnostic logging code to the plugin so that we can try and get some idea why the plugin is not locating DiskDirector.exe on my system?

Cheers
VW

And VeeDub,

I had previously written for Win7PE and which were working before

We do not support old scripts, we use plugins created for projects here.

It is yet another reason we deprecate scripts name and use plugin name to files we use on projects.

do not mix old with new as written to you before here.

http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=2005.msg22523#msg22523

it has been a few years since I made any changes to a project.
We develop solutions to old failures for a while,
but old users tend to follow old habits which re cause failures,

recent example for old habits:

Follow provided solutions and instructions,
you will notice things now more automatically works smooth,
 and
you will see life is easier for you (and us  ).

also see reply 5 here
http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=1971.msg22587#msg22587

winbuilder plugins -> designed to work on SE and Gena
winbuilder scripts -> designed to work on one of another winbuilder project (all death as far as I know)
lsp scripts -> designed to work on lsp projects (mostly from SE and Gena ;) )
powershell scripts -> designed to work on microwinpebuilder or anyother

mixing old scripts with projects may cause failures.

%99 it is always old users having weird failures on a set of reasons.
And %99 old users do not follow FAQ thinking they already know everything.
It is not to me surprise yet another old user (Veedub) having trouble on a plugin (Acronis) that no other fails, no other can reproduce.
And on such cases it is always followed by wrong conclusions like a joke.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll work through the FAQ and make sure that my build complies with the basics and see how I go from there.

@Prz42 thanks for your time, it seems I may have wasted some of it, please accept my apology for that.

Not any problems.  Did you try the new plugin that I posted?
I don't have any knowledge of running the Winbuilder in VMware.
I do have VMware on my host machine but it seems to take up a
lot of memory and running both at the same time doesn't work.

@Prz42

Well I will be re-running the Update shortly, so I should get the latest plugin if I didn't have it already.

But I'm going to work my way through the FAQ first and make sure that my config complies with all the other best practice. Which hopefully will get the plugin working out-of-the-box.

Then I'll see if I can get my scripts working without breaking anything, but I'm going to remove them for now.

Cheers
