Hi,
This is my first post. So please be patient with me and excuse my bad English..  :embarrassed:

I have made several times an bootable ISO using Winbuilder and Compressed project.
All process seems to be fine, all files are there into the ISO.
The issue: When I boot Win7PE_SE from my USB stick, I always got the desktop without applications but yellow triangle with errors inside.
The error seems to be related to Timeout HD /DVD detection. I got a long list (30) pass of checks for ready devices.
All partitions and HDD pass OK, but not for my DVD player /writer . Then ... exit.
So I got a B: Ramdrive empty .
In the root of the ISO, I have the CdUsb.y , Win7PE.cd, menu.lst files..
Can you drive me in the right direction ?
Thanks

Hi

I don't know how you went about installing win7pese to your flashdrive, but in my case I applied the boot.wim to my ssd with imageX, this results in not having the Programs folder, which is on the iso/cd and not inside the wim.  Also, win7pese spends 30 seconds checking for its cd at boot, & when it is not found you get the yellow triangle error on the desktop.

To not have the error, & the 30 second delay, I unchecked 'CD Drive -X: -Y:' in winbuilder, since in my case I am running it from my ssd and not a cd.  Then copied the Programs folder from the iso to my ssd, after applying the boot.wim image.  I am *sure* this is not the best way to go about resolving the issue, since I still know very little about winbuilder, but it has worked out fine for me

I haven't had a lot of time, since the first couple weeks after having discovered win7pese, to read more about how winbuilder works, and since this has worked for me I have just been using it this way.  Still trying to catch up on all the work lost during that initial time of having so much fun with it.  Think I applied the wim to my poor ssd nearly a hundred times trying different things, so I understand some how you feel  :)

Perhaps someone else will kindly offer a more knowledgeable alternative, but if not, or until then, you can try this and see if it helps

Hi,

I do not really use CD/DVD but I did not had worry when I tested.
You must have a problem with your hardware
After startup, check the CD/DVD drive in device manager.
For info, Win7pese has the same drivers as the original windows 7 DVD.

Try on others PC or better try with a USB stick/disk with only advantages. A faster startup or the ability to add other portable apps, for example...

Otherwise, you can build with "Run ALL programs from RAM" (CdDrive - X: - Y: script), your applications will be inserted into boot.wim, therefore bigger and so you need more memory.
Except really old PC, this is not really a problem nowadays.

Maybe "Run ALL programs from RAM" default  better. As you stated there is not really a problem nowadays computers

Hi everybody,

Thanks for replying !
My CD/DVD is controlled by a Marvell chip as my Motherboard has 6 Intel ports (none free...)
I always us USB for booting, just keep CD/DVD for audio or Video watching..
I don't know if Windows 7 has Marvell Chips in native mode, and my hardware when checking Win7PE_SE was only on that PC.
I will build a new ISO with "Run ALL programs from RAM" (CdDrive - X: - Y: script), as suggested. All PC I have have 8 GB or more memory.
I will let you know the results.
Thanks

Hi Mikmouse,

With your 8Gb of RAM you should not have trouble with "Run ALL programs from RAM", I hope.

Otherwise, without "Run All program fromRAM", have you tried with the different settings for the  SATA controller in the BIOS?
and have you tried to integrate latest Marvell drivers in Win7PESE when building?

Thanks ChrisR for suggestions.
All from Ram works fine, and yes, no problems with 8GB...

I have also a small issue, but failed to resolve it. The Penetwork does not work for me and do detect my internet.
I tried to integrate my Windows 7 drivers extracted from Gigabyte 's W7 Realtek GBE drivers, but as a result they don't seem to be integrated into the Wim file.  I use the inf file and associated drivers.
I can use the Network going to device manager > Network card (yellow) search for drivers and navigate to my HD into windows/system32/  > to find and install card and drivers in order to have internet access.
Sure, its my fault. I put them into  "%GlobalTemplates%\Drivers_x64\"
Is it the right place. ?

I do not have same issue with Win8PE_SE project. Drivers are there by default...
