Ok, thanks ginzu for explaining.

I will try to reproduce the issue on my system tomorrow. I can't see yet what could have changed in the latest updates that could have affected this, but I will try to narrow it down and get back with something for you to test.

Regarding the mass storage driver issue: are you able to post a link to the 32-bit Intel Driver packack that works for you? If not, I will post a couple of screenshots tomorrow explaining some steps for you to do on your 32-bit system to identify the driver that we need.

Regards,
Galapo.

Interesting find here: http://wikidrivers.com/wiki/Intel_Chipset_Device

It would seem from that the the HWID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03 is supported by the default drivers shipped with XP.

ginzu, what happens when you don't include the mass storage driverpack in a PE build? Do you get a successful boot?

Thanks,
Galapo.

Thanks for posting the link to the driver package. That's helpful for me.

I need you to do two tests for me.

1. Test #1: Try without using mass storage drivers

Uncheck mass storage drivers script.
Rebuild PE.
Reboot and test.
Do you get successful boot and access to your harddisk?

ila_rendered

2. Test #2: Try with specifying different iastor driver

Open up mass storage driver script with WinBuilder editor or text editor.
Find the line in image below with your HWID.
Change to iastor6 driver.
Rebuild PE.
Reboot and test.
Do you get successful boot and access to your harddisk?

ila_rendered

For working out the SetResolution issue, I've had to beef up the LOG file even more! :transformer:

I've uploaded a new version of the script, which you can download from the Gena server. Link here if you need it: http://gena.cwcodes.net/Projects/Gena/Components/Tweaks/SetResolution.script

Rebuild the PE with the updated script.
Reboot and test.
Post SetResolution.log file.

Thanks,
Galapo.

Hi ginzu,

Thanks for your continued tests. Every test hopefully we are getting closing to pinpointing the issues.

For the mass storage issue, I will create a test script for the driver you sent me.

For SetResolution, that is an interesting LOG. Following that, can you run this program from a command prompt in you PE in native mode. Then post the output you get (copy-and-past from the command window.).

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3801579/temp/vmdetect.exe

Thanks,
Galapo.

Hi ginzu,

Thanks for the screenshot.

It's very unusual what's going on. SetResolution.exe calls the vmdetect.exe program to detect whether it is running in a virtual machine. Console output is read in by SetResolution. Native machine is detected by the presence of the string 'Native machine detected' in the output, which you will notice in your screenshot.

However, in the LOG file we do not have the same output, even though that has been run under the same system. You will see this at the bottom of the log:

Code: [Select]
---Output of vmdetect.exe
Gena
---

In line with running vmdetect.exe from the commandline it should read

Code: [Select]
---
Output of vmdetect.exe
LDT: 0000
MSW: 8001003b
Native machine detected
---

I do not know why on your system that is not the case. I will try to figure out why.

I was out today, so I have not yet written a mass storage script for you to test. I will do that tomorrow.

Regards,
Galapo.

Hi ginzu,

Here is a script to test the iastor driver you sent me: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3801579/temp/IastorTest.script

Make sure you disable ALL other mass storage scripts to test this.

Here is a link to test another SetResolution version. I'd like for you to again post the SetResolution.log file. Hopefully we aren't too far away to getting to the bottom of this one.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3801579/temp/SetResolution.script

Thanks,
Galapo.

For fujitsu SataII- Ahci open and close-(HDD and USB) :Video driver failed.:(

Thanks for the test. That means either: a) the wrong mass storage driver (unlikely since this one is working for you in a full OS); or b) something else particular to this system stopping a successful boot.

I take the situation to now be the second case. However, I have no idea how to work it out. I'm very sorry for that.

For the SetResolution issue, I'll keep trying things. I can tell from your log that the file vmdetect.exe was extracted to your %temp% location. However, it's output was not captured by SetResolution.

Here's the particular code I'm using. Whether someone else can see what needs to be changed:

Code: [Select]
...
$temp = EnvGet("temp")
...
FileInstall('vmdetect.exe',$temp & '\vmdetect.exe')
...
$foo = Run(@ComSpec & ' /c "' & $temp & '\vmdetect.exe"', @ScriptDir, @SW_HIDE, $STDERR_CHILD + $STDOUT_CHILD)
$foo_run = False
While 1
    $line = StdoutRead($foo)
    If @error Then ExitLoop
If $foo_run = False Then
If $line <> "" Then
If StringInStr($line, "Native Machine detected") Then
...

Thanks,
Galapo.

Hi ginzu,

I think I might have found the issue with SetResolution. There was a problem with the loop I posted above. It's been working by fluke for most people the last few years. :embarrassed: :heh:

Please test this script: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3801579/temp/SetResolution.script

Thanks,
Galapo.

Yep, took a while, but I'm hopeful that ginzu will report it working. :play_ball:

For the sata issue, I don't know what to do. From what I can tell from the Intel INF files, the HWID should be supported by XP native drivers. And then the driver that ginzu sent hasn't worked either.

The message about video driver failing is interesting. Maybe it is really some other driver that his system needs for some reason?

Regards,
Galapo.

Thanks for getting back. That's great news that SetResolution is now working for you. I will update the script on the server (probably early next week).

The image you gave of mass storage drivers is normal. That is what the driverpacks script delivers by default. But I still have no idea about the reason for the error message.

When you build without mass storage drivers -- do you get a successful boot from usb when achi is closed?
