Is there a Hirens BootCD script for Gena? I have search everywhere. I am pretty sure the one for Win7PE will not work or could it be rewritten to work with Gena?

No, there isn't a script for that (unless someone else has written one).

Hirens is considered warez, which is why we aren't really interested in Hirens.

Galapo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't all the warez stuff removed and all free stuff now? The reason I ask is because we had a customer today call us and ask for a Hiren BootCD after he called AVG when his computer crashed from a virus. AVG rep instructed him to get a Hiren's and if he didn't know how to use it that most PC repair shops had one and if not, they (as in AVG) would mail one to his local PC so they could remote in and fix his PC. I figured if a big company like AVG was recommending Hiren's, it was legal now?

Don't exagarate "big companies" , I had also mistaken about that long time ago....

Have you seen AVG website distributing hi... cd ;)
or have you seen AVG forum made by its admins devoted to discuss hi.... ;)

It is sure easier for a phone-tech-support guy pointing end user hi... cd to do stuff,
knowing enduser will find it easly on net or around,
(Easier - Faster than pointing Gena, Win7PESE, MS Waik preparation tutorials...)
besides when you google around you will notice no "big or small" company distribute hi...  .iso on their website, it is illegal.

Before making (yet again) a long reply-reply topic, here is summerize:

Still there is a gray area, not distributing, but talking about warez or preparing things for warez is legal or not.
Real Life says: Legally no, but practically acceptable, and discussing up to forum/website policy/goal.

SidebySide, I believe,
since your customer is an XP legit user, he can use xp-pe for his rescue/install stuff.
As far as I remember, owning a windows-xp , ms license let user create and use his own pe.
From this point, I guess you (as tech guy) can personally provide such a legit-customer  h..... or Gena etc.
but you can not distribute such iso on internet...

btw, you can create your own LaddanatorBootCD.iso the way you like around here ;)

Discussing warez is less gray, but still gray ;)
If we start to discuss all warez around, than we would have DarKGena , CoolWin7PESE etc. iso distributions around,
There are already lots of other forums doing such things, which I believe are enough to end users by filling such demand,
but such thing would lead us a position we would not like to be in.

Still, such activity (distribution of ready iso or some ms and other company files) can be considered as "ms close eye" (not legal but not trouble for today),
Some forums (and some common forum posters) who call themselves legit (by adding forum rules "discussing warez not allowed" etc. or by posting on such a way = post games) do such things,
but we like ms (or anyother company) open eyes wide and see all legal.

Still, you can think about h.... discussion (but not distribution) as an exception (to create a plugin), which is not legit gray but maybe acceptable !,
but believe me, you will also loose your interest in a short time, since now you are now capable of making your own pe the way you like.

What would be more interesting to discuss is, if there is something at h.... you can not do with Gena (If exists), it would be nice to dig inside to figure out, which would be a nice discussion.

ps: hehehe, maybe I should consider LancelotBootCD.iso

btw, you can use pm around here, or email for such thingies (another gray but acceptable), but not openpublic

Sorry for long post, We had seen numerongous times such discussion, I feel summerizing would clear at first.

The only good part of 'H...' cd is their program launcher. They did it in a simple way and it is easy to edit.Programs like Pstart lacks the menu interface of their program launcher. If one of the forum member could code a better menu based launcher in VB or something it will be a great help.In every other thing Gena outperforms this warez disk.
