Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum but not new too IT.  I have a small issue I am hoping someone can assist with.  I have recently upgraded my copy of Win10PESE to 2019-03-16 extended support release with updates for Win10 1809 compatibility.  In updating to this version from the prior version, I lost the ability to access a network share on our domain at work via a unc path (\\servername\share) from a run prompt or explorer window. Prior to this version of PE, when I would type in the network path, I would be prompted for credentials, I would then input those credentials and I could access the share.  When I try to access this share on Win10PESE 2010-03-16, it gives me the error "You do not home permission to access \\servername\share" . However if I open a command prompt and use the NET USE command, (Example:Net Use: Z: \\servername\share) for the same share, it prompts me for credentials, I input them and it maps the share fine and I can see all the files as well as any other share on the folder since authentication has been made.  I can also map the share using PE Network Manager, its only UNC that will not prompt for credentials.  I still have copies of the older WIN10PESE prior to the extended support version (thank you for that by the way) and I do not have this issue on the same share folder, UNC works fine and prompts for credentials. I know I have to be missing something in Winbuilder. Any help is appreciated

Thank You

Perfect, I will give that a shot.  If its without enabling the admin feature does it matter if your'e logged in as administrator or session?

Thank You

Nevermind, the other thread regarding someone unable to map network drives in PE Network Manager answered my last question.

As far as I know I am using the most recent version of the builder and plugins. I keep them both updated.

However, under the Remote Desktop plugin there is a patch option that was checked but I did not activate the admin plugin as it said was required. It states " Patch: Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll   Patch: requires Admin Plugin (No need admin account)."
also:
"Connections with Network Level Authentication  *NLA Support requires login as admin"

I had both of those checked (I guess they were by default) but I did not add that plugin.

So adding the admin plugin may have made that patch work, that you are talking about, according to that note.

Hi Coryc209,

If you use 1709 source, things will work as before.

After 1709 things changed.

slore figured out patch after 1709   :worship:

We follow slore and add patch to Remote Admin ...... :turtle:

Hi slore,

checked "patched the Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll option" in Remote Deskop, but without enable Administrator feature.

I could not find time to study related things yet.
Drakkn respond your question here: Reply 2 http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=2778.msg32569#msg32569

As you had written (and I had followed on Remote Desktop UI), things from Admin Plugin required ....

Time ... :turtle:

Good point, my source is 1809 this time but the old PE drives I used 1709 as the source. Although let me see if I can get it working with Slores patch. It looks like RDP was checked already as well as "patch: Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll" and "Connections with Network Level Authentication" but "Login As Admin" was not checked which would cause an issue since below NLA it says "NLA support requires Login as Admin"

I will test and let you know, thank you again.

I can tell you 1809 as a source does not work even with slores patch and login as admin plugin enabled. I am trying source 1803 to see if that works. I really liked how bitlocker unlock function works in the "My Computer" Menu with 1809 whereas 1709 did not. I have not tried 1803 to see if it works also. I will comment back tomorrow.

Thank You

I haven't sort out the required files for CredDialog only without login as admin plugin.

"patch: Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll" unchecked with/without login as admin plugin, the Cred Console Dialog be OK to use.

"patch: Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll" checked without login as admin plugin  => bad effect as report

lost the ability to access a network share on our domain at work via a unc path (\\servername\share) from a run prompt or explorer window.

"patch: Windows.UI.CredDialogController.dll" checked with login as admin plugin => Cred Window Dialog shows and work like normal Windows.

The result is still same for 19H1, 20H1.

Does not work in 1803 or 1809, I still get access denied but NET USE works and PE Network Manager works

Slore,

See my responses above, I must be doing something wrong since it works for you and the other person in the other thread.

From the site you sent via the instructions in the SE extended support release.  Hang on though, it might be a bad test on my end. I am testing at home right now from a local network share and not an admin share (\\servername\share$) which from what I am reading makes a difference on the admin credentials prompt popping up. I also just tested from standard Windows 10 x64 1809 on a laptop I have and I received the same result.   I DID test 1809 at work to our hidden admin share and it did not work.  I am off the next two days but when I go back I will perform a proper test.

Thank You

Hello,

Sorry I do not speak English this text is translated by google, I am french.

I encounter the same problem, unable to access the UNC path of a NAS or a shared folder of a PC.
When accessing via explorer I have this message
"Windows can not find '\\ 192.168.0.30 \ backup." Check the spelling and try again "
or with net use in a DOS session, I have this message
"The specified server can not perform the requested operation."

I spent the whole weekend, I tested with the W10 version downloaded from microsoft and Win10 versions 1709,1809 and 1809 english downloaded from the site tb.rg-adguard.net/public. php /

As you can see I need to access a backup folder, so I'm very bored.

Can you help me please and give me the procedure to solve this problem.

thank you so much
