Hi,

I need to have the capability of managing user accounts available in Win81SE. Even better, if we could do this during build configuration and before rebuilding the OS image  :w00t:. This capability will prevent the novice user from inadvertent manipulation of  Live environment settings of Win8.1SE.
Unfortunately, the only thing you can do with user accounts is changing the current password (currently seems to be just for 'Administrator' account). The section of 'Users and Groups' seemingly was removed from Computer Management.

After all, is it possible to make the OS goes up with a standard user, by default? Also, how could we preset a password the Administrator account, before building the image?

Thanks

What actual your want to do with your PE?

It's designed for recovery and windows install, but not as an everyday OS for "novice users".

Hi,

Although the main purpose of Windows Emergency is for recovery problems (as JFX said), but the fantastic customization capabilities provided with it via WinBuilder and also the opportunity to write your scripts were my primary reasons to choose it for my little project. I tried with Windows Embedded Standard 8 and studied about other alternatives such as Windows To Go or Windows Embedded Compact, but none of them helped me; for instance, WES8 was made deactivated when you port your stick between different computers.

My project requires to strict the Windows user from accessing the host's fixed disks and solely provide a network/internet connectivity to him. So, I seek for a way to manage the user accounts through WinBuilder, or another script or command. The only 'Administator' account is just the thing I escape from .
If not possible by anyway, is there another solution similar to Windows Emergency that matches my desires best  :w00t:.

Thanks

Hi

Not sure whether it helps but i would recommend to take a look at "VHD_Win8" project by "Wimb".

Hi m.salsal,

as anshad indicated, I also advice you a portable w8,

customization capabilities comes from Chris and JFX,
and all people who shared their feedbacks around, not winbuilder ;) ,
people who have specific tasks, like you, when they figure out, they share with others,
there are many plugins Chris made available that increase flexibility, including from feedbacks and his findings,
winbuilder is only a tool full of bugs we are using, creating headache, but we don't have time or sources to replace with.

For your specific goal (with portable w8 or SE),
I feel what you need is, for your specific task, only removing diskstorage driver(s) from your build
OR maybe, I feel removing disk.sys would remove all disk access including ufd, if so there should be a way to remove fixed drivers ;) ) -> test and see ;)
Another idea, I am not sure but, maybe removing untfs.dll may remove ntfs support, hence only fat and exfat supported (via usb flash disk) -> test and see ;)

only ideas to test, probably there will be more when you look around internet, let us know results if you continue that way,
 besides don't insist to ask,
there is no feature available today, if you or anyone else figure out and give feedback, there will be

:turtle:
