Greetings ...
I have been using my Win7PE/SE MultiBoot USB stick for years now ...
However, I just acquired a ThinkPad 25 Anniversary Edition laptop
and have so far NOT been able to use the above on the TP25AE ...

I tweaked the UEFI/BIOS to be able to successfully boot the MBUSB stick;
however, neither my Win7PE/SE build nor my PartedMagic distro
will find any HDDs (internal or external) after booting ...

After the Win7PE boot, ONLY the X/boot drive is found/visible ...
not even the Y/app "drive" on the USB stick is found/visible ...

I am hoping for replies to help me resolve the above
and/or suggestions for alternative "PE" boot options ~
including PartedMagic ...

So ...
I (so far) seem to have a found at least one (1) alternative/solution ~
a substitute for the PartedMagic distro that is on my MBUSB stick  :great:

Hi AEN007,

I switched to the WIN10PE or WIN10XPE a long time ago, but used Win7PE before. One thought would be to check USB 2 vs USB 3 ports. Win7 does not support USB 3 out of the box, and I assume your new Laptop has (only) USB 3 ports. If you still have USB 2, try to boot from that port. If you only have USB 3, make sure you integrate USB 3 drivers into your PE system.

Did you see the internal drives/hard disks? If not, you might also need to add the proper chipset drivers or the storage controller drivers. Drivers were one reason why I moved to WIN10PE. It just ships with most of the mandatory or useful drivers (storage, network).

just give it a try... :)

Just one more note: you can also boot in native UEFI mode from USB usually. Just make sure your usb stick is formated FAT32 and you are using the 64 bit OS version when you create your PE. I already came across some newer machines, where the CSM mode is no longer available in BIOS, so they only support UEFI.

Thanx for that ... :great:
I have not yet ever built a Win7PE/SE MultiBoot USB
off of my (only) Win7x64 laptop ...

Today I found the following:

newbielink:https://paul.is-a-geek.org/aio-srt/ [nonactive]
& did a quick build (off of my Win7x64 laptop)
& then successfully booted into a LinuxPE environment ~
which (like I said) at least gives me (atm)
the equivalent of my "PartedMagic" PE/distro functionality ...
