Thanks for the tip! I'm looking forward to testing it when I get home, I wonder if they remove the AmCore.dll dependency for the free version, like they (sorta) promised on their support forum.

Some of those are only there because the Beta v2.5 the full size version. Amlinux.iso for example. You can get that with the existing v2.2 full size version.

Most people use the smaller version. Pretty sure Dev.dat is connected with the universal restore - that is the new function.

I did a quick test with the PE files. Extract with innounp and rename proper ",2" files.
I still get the "expired" screen, so I guess they're still using that wonderful (AmCore etc.) system...
Too bad...

No idea what you are complaining about. It is easy, just run the program and then shut it down, before adding it to pe.

It is what you do with winntsetup.

It is even easier to just copy the files from your already installed copy. Why would you want to include it in pe if you don't have it in your running os?

Yep, too bad, amcore.dll is still required  or we need to use Aeolis trick Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion,ProgramData (or both).

I tested with latest Lancelot plugin which works well without touching anything after renaming AB2.5.exe in Backupper.exe in the Provide files folder
The Linux Bootable Disk amlnx.iso is already removed in the plugin. I do not know for others files and dev.dat ~15Mb, probably used by the new universal restore.
dev.dat is not present in Winpe64 it is however written in the innounp install_script.iss! is it required for the 64-bit version?

@Lancelot
Maybe you can put your latest AOMEI_Backupper_Standard_G.Script in first post with edit Lancelot of course...
In any case I will deleted my version in post #1 that is no longer compatible with latest Aoemei setup.

I'm not complaining. It's just strange they build in this check, and that an "unlicensed!" warning is given for a "free" version. I believe JFX also found this strange. Also, Aomei said they would remove the check in upcoming versions. There's still hope :-)

I never install backup software in normal running OS.
But you're right, even "installing" Aomei in a running **PE**, will provide the needed AmCore.dll file (for later use). So that's not the problem at all.

Just wanted to add the reply I got from Aomei support a while back:
Quote
I must say there are problems indeedly with Backupper if you want to run it in a third-party 64-bit WinPE, currently there are many relatively complicated operations needed to do if you want to add Backupper to WinPE yourself maunally.  We will release a PE edition of Backupper in the future.
The file AmCore.dll, we will modify it in future versions, please keep an eye on our updates. Thank you very much for your attention to our Backupper.

Again, I'm not complaining, I like Aomei Backupper, just wish they wouldn't unnecesarily complicate things for PE use.

Oups, I had already done, following my previous post
I still have a copy at home.

I already look to amcore with ResHacker but without finding.
It's a fake dll. There are only few data inside. I guess the registration for the pro version (written following the pro serial) to unlock some of the functions.
I hope they will remove it for the final 2.5 free version. It should not be so complicated if they really wish.

Hi Chris,

done now

I added something for amcore.dll , now if exists copied from provide file \x86 \x64
just as an insurance for unknown future on aomei.

I plan not to support old versions (I did not test 2.0 etc.),
since it seems hot developing application,
it is to me nicer providing old plugins for old version

+
in fact my whole idea was gaining experience on creation of a innounp provide file plugin,
and later add this experience to PC Provide Files,
I am no Aomei fun at all
well I don't have free time to inspect Aomei and improve idea, left to future time slowly :turtle:

Further I will support feedback on current topic for Aomei plugin,
also feel free to update with anything you like

See You
:turtle:

Hi Atari800xl,

Since you are in contact to developers,
Ask them not to do common mistake made by some backup softwares,
and remove any vss requirements in future (if vss not work app continue work...) ,
or provide some kind of fake vss on pe usage like DriveXML.

See You
:turtle:

It already has an alternative snapshot driver to vss, if needed.

Hi SIW2,

vss.dll file only for 32bit,

and it failed on my old tests ,
Win81SEx86 did not work,
(did not test with Components\VSS plugin of Win81SE, tested with a small build)

that is the reason plugin don't copy these files on x86 build, and aomei works ok.

since they have their own drivers why vss.dll !!!!!!

I feel since development hot, better someone push developers prevent going to bad directions

I figured that since v11 starts to deal with 2.5 Beta and v10 works good for me.. because I personally would like to split known versions while in development

I modified my script to v12 and it is using the Beta 2.5 download

* AOMEI_Backupper_Standard_Beta.7z (729.49 kB - downloaded 127 times.)

Edit: version 13 - changed program and source folder names - as to not interfere with 2.2 plugin - allows both versions to install for testing (added MD5 hash)

Hi Lancelot,
Hi Mark,
I just tested, AOMEI_Backupper_Standard_G plugin works ok with x86 source,
9600.17050.WINBLUE_REFRESH.140317-1640_X86FRE_ENTERPRISE_EVAL_EN-US-IR3_CENA_X86FREE_EN-US_DV9
I have no bsod etc. everything smooth
(tested on OS mode, both with default and a small build)
:turtle:
I did a Update Win8.1SE (Exact and Secure) and you latest Script worked perfect!!!
I don't know what exactly changed but putting the drivers in x:\windows\system32\drivers
worked with no problem. Before I did the update it would give me a blue screen.
Thanks for all you hard work on this project.  I was able to figure out how to put
it in a sub directory. Just had to get my head around copying complete folders after another folder.

Since Lancelot fix all the problems with Backupper and it works with all versions of
Standard, Pro and Beta. I incorporated all of them into one script. It includes sub folders
AOMEI/Backupper.  Did check to make sure script worked in x86 and x64 in WIN8.1SE :w00t:

Mark, what the deal with Pro, what else is required? License? Key?

\Workbench\Common\Program_Files\AOMEI Backupper_ProvideFile\

Have an extra folder - have not seen that before > Program Files

And you are working with and posting test scripts of a prior know working version..

This happened in DD and HDDLLF also.. Just saying
