Hi,

I have used WinBuilder to build Win7PE project and so far it is working well. However we have a problem with mouse and keyboard on Dell server (Dell FC630 FX2), details:

http://ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-fc630_setup%20guide2_en-us.pdf

http://ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-fm120_setup%20guide_en-us.pdf

Issue symptom: Mouse and Keyboard is totally useless once booted on Dell Servers, we cannot move or type anything on Win7PE meanwhile booting on another machine it does not have any problem with mouse and keyboard...I can confirm that mouse and keyboard on that Dell server are fine, no problem if they are plugged in another machine or even booted on master OS on Dell server.

Do you have any idea on why this is happening? Thank you

PS: I also tried to disable USB 3.0 mode in BIOS on Dell server to avoid any potential conflict issue but so far it does not help.

If you are using a 32-bit version of Win7PE SE you need to make sure "Memory Mapped I/O above 4GB" is disabled in the BIOS settings.

Hi,

I tried following:

1. Disable "Memory Mapped I/O above 4G" in BIOS setting under " Integrated Devices"
2. In BIOS changing XHCI mode from "smart auto" to "auto"
3. Run "RemovableDeviceUSB3_v18.script" (downloaded at https://www.dropbox.com/s/i8uh2gf7lgwbx1g/RemovableDeviceUSB3_v18.script?dl=0) in WinBuilder
4. Attached the driver files for Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller

Please note that I am using Win7PE x86. Unfortunately the mouse and keyboard still not working on Dell servers...Any idea on why this happened..?

Thank you in advanced.

USB 3.0 Support (RemovableDeviceUSB3) v23 plugin already available inside project. \Drivers\

You will notice a scrollbox on plugin interface, where you can select "Intel" drivers which one of them may fit your hw ...

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have already used that script but so far it does not work.

Can you please shed some light on what does which options mean? And how to know which one fit my Dell server (please see my hw description above)? ila_rendered

See which Intel chip used on your Dell server for usb control
ps: utilities like Aida64 may help.

and a reminder:
If you still fail with Win7PESE,
microsoft natively support usb3 on later releases, as a result later projects: Win8PESE , Win8.1 SE , Win10PESE natively support usb3

personal experience:
On Win7, I never have mouse trouble with usb3,
but I had difficulty to enable usb3 by adding intel drivers on vhd-boot which slows down file transfer on usb3-hd.

and,

try Win7PESE by NOT using "USB 3.0 Support" plugin.
ps: "USB 3.0 Support" plugin not enabled default

reason behind:
after your changes on bios, usb2 mode maybe working for mouse-keyboard now

I just tried it and would like to confirm this is what we should look into (see screenshot) ila_rendered. If so, am I using Intel chip 6x but on the option list in WinBuilder, we just have 7x and 8x options...and what is difference between "7x enabled" and "7x auto"?

Please advise. Thank you

Do you use USB 2.0 or US B 3.0 ports at the server?
Any other OS insalled? Can you check device manager connections?

It's a Dell, this is asking for a strange BIOS, strange USB timing settings.
Verify used USB controller first.

Series 7/8 refers to the Chipset Family, the manufacturer uses this names.

The historic USB3 script dosn't support your hardware.
Disable the USB 3 script and integrate the drivers yourself: Driver Integration script

Hi all,

Thank you very much for all your suggestions. I tried them all but none of them works unfortunately.

This is a very important project to us, we have a lot of Dell servers here and they need to be working, otherwise we will get stuck ourselves. Greatly appreciate to any other idea...Thank you
