Hey guys,

I'm sure someone here has an easy answer for me.

Ever since building my Win8.1SE, I've never been able to get thumbnails to work reliably.  When a folder is first loaded I will see the images pop up very briefly before they are overwritten with the stock image icon thereafter.  Any ideas what it was I broke?

Thanks!

Since this is PE and NOT a Full Windows Enviroment...

The Picture needs to be opened with an .exe, thus the exe icon...

Eh?  Sorry for asking for clarification -- but are you saying that thumbnails within Windows Explorer never show in WinPE?

That's fine if that's the case; I've replaced the standard Explorer browser windows with a third-party program anyway now (XYplorer) -- however it would just be nice if I could find a way to make the standard browser windows work as well.

Thanks at any rate for the reply. :)

Let us know if you figure out.

Apps\Debug\"Sysinternals Process Monitor (Procmon)"
would help, further spending time ....

An idea, enable these plugins :
Components\DirectX
Components\Ms Viewer

than use Procmon and observe what happens when you select thumbnail on Explorer ....

Good Luck.

Thanks guys, I might troubleshoot, and if I do I will report back with results.

In running Win10PESE - show thumbnails:
I used Enable_Explorer_Thumbnails_All_Users.reg from http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11738-thumbnail-previews-enable-disable.html
Explorer / properties of a choosen folder: View large or extra large symbols.
Maybe The Reg code is an idea for script addition.

just an update:

to get registry settings to enable / disable thumbnails,
\Downloads\ComponentsY\Tweaks\Tweak Visual Effects

plugin available for a while.
