Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did search these forums and got a slight migraine with how the search function works....

My current "golden image" needs to have a way to re-image itself when our IT staff are in the field. I can create a WinPE partition with the tool in the Windows AIK and it boots fine, it is just a command line tho and some people that work with us havent ever seen one, and would be really confused on how to use it.

My process will be as follows, the OS is already on the hard drive so I am just adding a second and third partition:
1. Create Win7PE SE partition to boot from (I want this to be a FULL GUI)
2. Create new partition in which to clone the Windows7 Recovery and OS partitions to -by creating a 2 folders on this partition, 1 for moving the 100MB recovery partition files to (named recovery) and another to move the OS partition files to (named OS)
3. Xcopy all files (hidden and system) from the 100MB partition to the "recovery" folder in step 2, then xcopy all files (hidden and system) from the OS drive to the "OS" folder in step 2.
4. When Win7PE SE boots I would like an executable on the desktop of that the technician only need to double click and the following process happens - 1, reformat the C: drive (windows recovery drive as shown in WinPE from Windows AIK) 2, reformat the D: drive (OS Partition as shown in WinPE from Windows AIK), 3 copy contents of the "recovery" folder from step 2 to the C: drive, 4 copy contents of the "OS" folder from step 2 to the D: Drive, 5 recreate the MBR if needed (will have to test and see if this is needed or not).

But first I need some help to install the Win7PE SE system onto this WinPE recovery Partiton.

Thanks for any help!

Explain this "Golden Image" and a you mean "Re-Image" itself' ??
Are you looking to make an OEM System Recovery partition for your "Golden Image"

windows 7 - 8 8.1 10 ???

Your 100MB "System" partition could be increased to a 1GB partition and include Win7SE PE as your system recovery
Then create a partition that is large enough to hold a System Image / Backup Image- Marcium, Acronis, AOMEI

We have one sysprepped image that we deploy on all of our computers. I want to have a recovery partition that has the contents of the os drive prior to running sysprep on first boot. I have tried the AOMEI onekey recovery and it works good, except it's a pain to use a imaging server such as FOG or CrucibleWDS because AOMEI creates an extended partition to boot from and that's not resizable to be deployed on any size hard drive other than the original drive size.

I need to do what AOMEI does but with all NTFS partitions, I hope that makes my original post more easily understood.

Thanks again for your help!

Not really sure How Win7 WinRE recovery works.. but I believe it uses a MS system image file rather then an install.wim

Before you sysprep and capture your install.wim - in windows\system32\recovery\ there is a WinRE.wim ???

You could replace that winre.wim with the boot.wim from your Win7PESE project (renamed of course to winre.wim)
Now when you boot into Recovery your Win7PESE will load.. you would also have to create a partition to hold your recovery image (install.wim)
then you would just reapply install.wim from recovery partition to OS partition

Win8-10 come with the ability to Refresh and Reset the PC via PBR (Push Button Reset) Feature - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824896.aspx

right now to many OS varibles to get into best method to recover your OEM image...

What I have done - was created a 2GB partition on my HDD - and I write WinPESE to that partition (not USB)
Then just added the WinPE boot files to System with EasyBCD.. Now when my boot menu pops up I can select OS or WinPESE

Sure I confused you even more.. but not easy to explain - as it really depends on the OS and your intended use.. Be it a custom recovery environment (WinPESE) or a WinRE environment..
