Hi, I am looking to create a very basic WinPE "Flat boot" (non-RAMDISK boot) based on Windows 10. So essentially to boot WinPE directly from HDD/SSD C: without RAM Disk(Scratch Disk) X:

I have attempted every method that I could find from MS forums as well as many PE Builder forums with no success. The best I can get is is for the system to load almost up to the recovery GUI or CMD window. Usually stalls with a hardware, or service not found error an "Blue Screen" :(
I have manually edited the heck out of it as well, trying many different configs as well as just about every BCD options I can throw at it. I think I am getting the BCD config partially correct as it does boot up to the point of BSOD, so not sure where I am going wrong.

If anyone knows of, or has a working copy of a basic Flat Boot WinPE that I could use as a debugging guide I would be greatly appreciative :)
or Alternatively, If you know how to script the "Flat Boot" (No-RAM Disk) into LSP, that would also give me the opportunity to study how it works :)

Appreciate any replies
Axle

Searched and found:https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/winpe-install-on-a-hard-drive--flat-boot-or-non-ram
However this has nothing to do with                          LiveSystem pro. Therefore it is better if a new topic is started.

Merhaba Lancelot,

MergePE is something like a further development of Win7PE, Win8PE and Win10PE, where these 3 projects are combined into only one project.
Thus changing the source from e.g. Windows Vista to Windows 10 you don't have to change the project, using the button "Refresh" in PreConfig is enough, as the (default) scripts in MergePE are covering all different possibilities of these 3 projects.

But it is not really a 1:1 copy as my goal was also to lead MergePE into a more or less "localized" direction.
And as I am a lazy guy MergePE extracts some more files (DLL, EXE) than a single LSP project does, but that's all.

MergePE itself is ready and able to use the scripts from the LSP UpdateCenter in the same way like a single LSP project does.
Included is also an untouched WinXPE part, therefore a copy of the according LSP project.

Current plan is to publish MergePE together with the next final version of LSP (depends also on some adjustments and changes at Kare's HP).

See you

Hi MaineCoon,

I understand ... I guess I partially did what you are doing with MergePE ... I have similar "merge" plans and ideas when I can find time in future ...

Please consider a better name. eg. MaineCoonPE

After public, it becomes impossible to change names.

Good news  :xmas-beer:
Welcome to project admin world.

@MaineCoon or CD-RW
Yesterday I also notice the new forum. Nice.  :great: at least Consider adding "english" option for menus.  :xmas-whistle:

Sorry, but that's not possible anymore or like the good old Romans said: "Alea iacta est" (because of planned publication).
I did this changes once in the past (if you remember: MultiPE --> MergePE) resulting in a mammoth task due to necessary changes of all scripts in the LSP UpdateCenter.
And at moment I'm extremely short of time - a problem I think you can comprehend.

Yes and No:
The forum software offers the possibility to change the language from German to English (at the bottom of its page)

And yes, you are right, the forum should have an english part also. Maybe read-only as in the European Union forums are restricted by the "General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)".
Will discuss it with Kare.

Hi MaineCoon,

I deeply understand you.  :great:
Glass is still full, MergePE is unique name.    that is the reason I found new forum quickly.

And at moment I'm extremely short of time - a problem I think you can comprehend.
I do. I will be again away in short time.  :xmas-good: These days only reason I keep around is HeyJoe.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I mean only ui.
I can read new forum with translator but life easier with forum title etc. with english.  :great:

Some fun:
"General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)" --> end of "Eurovision Song Contest"  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_Song_Contest

Thanks for the tip and the picture, It is enough to me.  :great:
Hard to notice for a new user at bottom-right with default German text. Top-Right with flag pictures would be nicer.

ps: It seem I will need to update Azin for MergePE in the future.

See You
