Aproximately 2 weeks ago a new version 4.0.5 was released.

I though doing an" Update (Exact and Secure)" would be sufficient to update the link to this new version.

Unfortunately when I generated a new Win10PE ISO only the old v4.0.4 was retrieved.

Is always a plugin adjustment necessary whenever a new Backupper version is released?

Claudia
Did you Purge Cache and Download the new version? After you do that you
should see above Plugin Page the version # should of changed.

Ok, thank you. It works.

But why does my previous"Update (Exact and Secure)" not do this job?
Isn't it intended to do exactly this job (for all local Plugins)?

No.
It is intended to update plugins.
( Secure update to get Exact copy from server )
How plugins works is the responsibility of the plugin author and end user.

But why does my previous"Update (Exact and Secure)" not do this job?
As you practice on previous posts :
Prz42 "Provide File" plugins require "purge cache" after you provide new files.

not related to "Update (Exact and Secure)"

It is Prz42 plugin design.
You have to follow Plugin author instructions.

Hi Prz42,

I believe you need to add something to
Backupper Instructions.txt

See:
Code: [Select]
********** AOMEI Backupper PE Instructions **********

Following Instructions, here is an updated step by step instruction:

(Option A) ** Provide Files

The Plugin will download the setup files to Provide Files.  If you select
the Standard Version or the Pro Version it will download the appropriate
files to the Provide File folder. Nothing more is needed. If there is a
(1k) zip file and an extra folder that normally means a bad download from
the internet. Clear these file and folder out. You may have to download
the files manually as their site has been know to be down or is gone.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

(Option B) ** Provide Files you manually downloaded

If you have already downloaded the setup files
Standard Free Version---Backupper.exe
Standard Full Version---BackupperFull.exe
Professional  Version---ABPro.exe

Open up the Provide File Folder and place one of the
exe in the folder. If you click on the Download Button
it will convert to a small zip file (20 megabits) that can be opened
up with 7-Zip. The 7-Zip can be downloaded from http://www.7-zip.org/
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

************ IMPORTANT ************
(Update with new Files)

After some time, application will update
 and you will provide new setup file.

If you Provide New files to plugin,
 you must once click 'Purge Cache'
  to get plugin work with the new setup file.

 ************ IMPORTANT ************

Thanks for the correction. I guess that is what happens when converting from XPE to Win10PESE.

yes, things people forget since 8 years I guess.  :lol:

I guess 10 or 9 years ago I was writing the same plugins again and again for different projects 5 or 6 times.
All lost on the internet.
History is important to take good lessons.  :wink:

*
I see you have trouble writing plugin for 2 types of projects.... I had this before.
I guess:
 you convert current Plugin to XPEPlugin and test,
 update AOMEI with new version and test,
 and later convert XPEPlugin to Plugin.
I am sorry for all the time you lost so far, not my fault but I will fix that fabricated situation in following weeks.

*
I just tested updated plugin to see if ok to upload to server,
but I see you still need to check log, I see there are troubles on shortcut lines %ProgramPath%.

Thanks for all your hard work of many many years of dedication.   :thumbsup:
I do like the speed of XPE and ChrisR did a great job as he has done for so many years.
Both projects are excellent with a lot of quality.
Any help with project compatibility would be greatly appreciated.
I can see that having XP through Windows 10 is expecting a lot.
Also the program install exe are getting larger and larger and needs to be cut down to only the files needed for PE.
For example backupper.exe is 145mb and when ChrisR created the original plugin it was something like 40mb.
So after taking all the files that are not needed for PE it is 40mb and compressing to ultra.
All of the project are a great collaboration of a lot of great people.
I notice that James has spend a lot of time on XPE which is appreciated.

I can see that having XP through Windows 10 is expecting a lot.
nothing changes, always same things like 10 years ago.
you copy files, create shortcut, and need a syntax for all these.
And later you need to get things easier with new syntax
eg: Macro_OpenTextFile
http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=2390.msg29313#msg29313

anyway, we will get Plugins to work on Win10XPE soon that will stop these expected conversion troubles.  :thumbsup:
I already did in 1 week, but for public distribution requires some more time.

Hi Prz42,

new plugin updated to server.  :thumbsup:

I hope now you better understand why I test plugins before upload etc.  :wink:

Let me know if other your new plugins required to be updated, I was away 8 months I can not catch all news.

*
Also the program install exe are getting larger and larger and needs to be cut down to only the files needed for PE.
For example backupper.exe is 145mb and when ChrisR created the original plugin it was something like 40mb.
Yes some apps setup get very big, and takes time to extract and later cut down.
A plugin author should use a cache method like yours and ChrisR to speed up things.  :great:
We are doing similar workarounds since first days of PE.  :thumbsup:

Still It may be better not to delete AOMEI_Backup setup.exe, one may need to install hostos. up to you.  :thumbsup:

Put the compressed reduced setup files in a container.
Also left original setup files in provide folder.
The setup file can be deleted but it can be used to install in host computer.

I had to update my plugin for AOMEI Backupper Pro.
ChrisR used a faster way to copy files in the plugin.

I don't like using this line in the plugin (Line 277)
Code: [Select]
[ExtractSetupFile]
Echo,"Extract %SetupFile%, Be patient..."
If,Not,ExistFile,%Tools%\ExtractSection.exe,ExtractFile,%ScriptFile%,Folder,ExtractSection.exe,%Tools%
I don't even know if it should be posted until Lancelot looks at this line for possible improvement.
But if I don't post Lancelot won't know what need corrected.
