build time will be longer (that is the reason "normal" selected as default, knowing user will start to play with build, no need to wait long time as default)
I guess it works opposite way about boot (~~):
with "maximum",
initial load time at boot would be faster, since .wim file read to ram is smaller on disk
after boot, load time of executables maybe faster or slower (not sure, but I would bet faster on a casino), well since all in ram it would not be significant
(still you can test with a slow bootup application with a chronometer (batch))
so shortly, as far as I know, "maximum" is better, only not good for default build
