Hi All,

I am new to Winbuilder and Win8.1 SE but really like what I have seen and must say that I think this project is just amazing with lost of potential.

For a project that I am working on, I have been able to use the Windows 8.1 PE 5.1 ADK to set up a test generated by their wim which came out to be about 270 MB in size.

Currently, I have the goal of hoping to figure out Winbuilder to such an extent, and with your help, to see what is the absolute smallest WinPE size I can come up with for a bootable ISO. To add on to that, I would like to have the only active shell being VirtualBox which is to say that I do not want explorer, taskbar, or other windows shell, but want the VirtualBox GUI to be the shell.

My catch is that I would like to ask if anyone has been able to make a WinPE less than about 270 MB so that I might be able to learn how to write the Winbuilder scripts to make this happen as well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Lonnie

well winbuilder sucks, but Win81SE maybe you can achive you catch, if you work hard enough.

See FAQ

What is the meaning of Small Build (Basic Build) ?

and

How to get small builds that requires smaller ram & size ?

better make an overall read FAQ , it has answers of your future questions.

There is no virtualbox plugin available for latest versions, let us know if you create one,
better first get virtualbox work with default Win81SE , than go to smaller...

if size matters a lot, Gena is smaller

Anyway,
Have fun on you catch,
Share your findings when you achive
