Hello forum mates
I recently came across your project, and I really impressed! it covers almost any aspect I expect from a WinPE to do

however, unfortunately I am unable to get a working PE
it ends up with a black screen and a mouse pointer

every time I build a PE, even using default settings, either 32 or 64 bit, it builds successfully, it boots, and loads the wim correctly,
but unable to load the shell, and ends up with a black screen and mouse.
the mouse responds, but no right-click, no keyboard command (like Alt+Ctrl+Del) does work

the WinBuilder Project is the latest, downloaded from w7pese.cwcodes.net: Win7PE_SE_2014-05-19 - Complete version
the source is the official original disk images from microsoft:
Windows 7 Ultimate x86 SP1 U (media refresh)    X17-59463.iso
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 U (media refresh)    X17-59465.iso
Version : 6.1.7601.17514, Service Pack 1
downloaded from windows.net

does anybody familiar with this kind of problem? is there a known bug with Win7PE_SE? do I supposed to build from RTM only?
is there anything I can try?

If you tried CD or DVD, maybe you can try from USB as well.
If you tried from USB, maybe try a different one.

Well, So far I tried USB, and USB-CDRom on two laptops (an old and a new one), and VMWare on my desktop PC,
and the fact that it does not work even with VMWare, makes me think there is something else

Your source windows should be okay, try building it on a different machine.

Or use Extracted Wim Files, maybe disable AV software during build.

WOW thanks it worked!
the funny thing is that this notebook running exactly the same Host OS as my Desktop (and the two are quite fresh), and I just copied the project and the source, and it compiled the same, but this time it worked
also, the USB from the previous attempt, after it has the boot.wim replaced, booted successfully! so the next thing I'll do will be comparing the two archives, maybe I'll find the bug

Please share your findings, maybe it will help somebody else in the future. (Also, I'm curious, as well....)
Nice to hear it worked for you in the end!

a very strange result
as I found out(the long way, after comparing registry files and stuff), the problem was in the wim capturing on my system
the same not-working boot.wim after being extracted, and re-compressed in another system, works flawlessly!

anyway, thank you and everybody who answered my post
b.t.w: I already integrated this PE in my multi-boot running syslinux, and it works great :great:
and finally, I found some little bug: if you are running from USB, and you have another WinPE in the CDROM, it will try to run the Programs dir from the CD instead of the USB

Update: manually installing the WIM Filter inf [wimfltr.inf] and [wimmount.inf] from (Projects\Tools\Win7PESE\x64) solved the problem!

That's very strange, cause the filter drivers are only needed for mounting, they are not involved in the wim file building.

Be careful with the old wimfltr.sys it's not compatible with some newer wim files (at least not with Win7Sp1 original wims).
And if it's running than wimmount has problems.
