Sirs:

Newbie here again.  I have been trying to use the Custom Folder feature to add a folder containing a portable program to the Program Files folder of the final build. Per the How To Quick Start Guide, I checked the Add Your Custom Folder checkbox and placed my custom folder in the appropriate AdditionalFiles\Program Files location that opened upon clicking Open Custom Folder button. With each attempt the build finishes successfully but the custom folder is not copied over to it.  Temporarily I  modified another script to perform a DirCopy of the custom folder and that is working for me but I'd rather use the available Custom Folder feature.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong/missing?  Thank you all.

Using the Custom Folder Option - your Custom Program Folder will be found in X:Program Files

EDIT:
Bootice Program Folder Before Build
Code: [Select]
"D:\Win10XPE\Custom\x64\AdditionalFiles\Program Files\BootIce"

Bootice Program Folder After Build
Code: [Select]
"D:\Win10XPE\Target\Program Files\BootIce"

James, you are correct.  My custom folder does show up under X:\Program Files.  I was expecting it and only looking for it under Y:\Programs.  I guess the custom folder is getting compressed within the boot.wim file.  The problem I see is that X: is less than 1gb in size which is limiting for adding portable programs and also the portable program wouldn't be available right off the USB flash drive but only after booting to the flash drive.

I think that limitation would be greatly alleviated by copying simple portables execs to the Y:\Programs on the USB flash drive and to run off the USB flash drive.

However, on second look, I see that the custom folder feature allows for adding not only custom folders but also program data, users, and windows custom entries and with that in mind I guess  X: would be the logical location for the additions.

It would be nice if the custom folder feature could be enhanced or a new similar feature added to the project so that the user can decide if the custom portable is added to Y:\Programs or to X:\ if the custom addition requires more than a program but also program data, and user  profile entries.

All this if I understand things somewhat correctly or I may be totally off.

You have about the same as Custom Folder with "Open ISO Root Folder" in create ISO
E:\Win10XPE\Custom\x64\IsoRoot\*.*  Copied to  E:\Win10XPE\ISO\
At USB Root this time on Y:

Thank you, ChrisR.  That sounds like a good alternate route of which I was not fully aware.  I will attempt it next time I build.

I am finding Win10XPE to be a great project.  Thank you for your work.

@ChrisR
Hi Chris, just tried your Win10XPE Project. I used the 2019-02-12 current version on a fast SSD drive on my Win10 x64 system to build the ISO.
1. Most of my Win10 ISOs use  install.esd files - are these catered for?
2. Using the BuildCore - Full winre.wim with light WinSxS (default) setting - I get this error every time:
---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
Cannot create file "H:\Win10XPE\Projects\Win10XPE\Script.Project". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process: IniWrite,%ProjectDir%\Script.Project,Features,SoundEvents,%SoundEvents_CheckBox%
If I change it to 'Full Winre.wim' then the ISO builds OK
3. If I add the ISO to my Easy2Boot drive, I don't get  Y: drive or any of the off-wim programs. Most WinBuilder ISOs used a  Win10PESE.ini file which causes WinPE to load the ISO file as a virtual DVD Y: when WinPE loads. E2B will work OK with this mechanism. Is there a way to do add this in to Win10XPE?
4. The plugin for TheOven_Startup.cmd would be useful (same as included by default in Win10PESE) ;-)

P.S. The name 'Win10XPE' confused me at first because I thought it might be based on XP! Maybe change name to Win10X_PE instead?

thanks
S

I tried to install Firefox Quantum like you but I didn't reproduce your error
If you know how to reproduce, try to capture the registry changes with Regshot

You can look in particular at these keys to see if you have any changes
Code: [Select]
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\ShellNew
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\LibraryFolder\background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New
//
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.txt
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Folder\ShellNew
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.library-ms
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\txtfile
