Hello folks,

I would like to share a script that I have been working for a while for Printer Support to Windows PE. Currently this is a a script in BETA stage. I am posting it here in the hope that more "eyes" and "brains" thinking together can find out what is still missing to this script.

For now, I have been able to bring the most basic functionally to PE: Print Management MMC snap-in is fully functional, spooler service starts ok, I am able to install PDF Creator as a secondary virtual printer and all virtual printers installed in system are shown correctly in the Device Display windows under printer title as well as in the Print management MMC snap-in.

But until now I could not print using the Microsoft XPS Printer nor the PDF Creator printer. I always receive a "A StartDocPrinter call was not issued." when trying to to print to .xps.

Here is the file: * Printer Support.7z (1012.98 kB - downloaded 874 times.)

Best regards,

Aeolis

Hello folks,

I would like to report that now it's possible to print to .xps (with the built-in Microsoft XPS Printer) and to .pdf (with PDF Creator - if you install it).

Now I will work on debugging and activating real printers usage (hardware printers). Feel free to join in the BETA testing of this script.

Best regards,

Aeolis

Hello folks,

I would like to report that I was able to successfully print a test page in my AiO (All-in-One) HP Deskjet 4480 printer. But I was not able to use its scanner component to scan the test page. The process of installing the HP Deskjet 4480 drivers was a bit clumsy, but in the end it worked. I will keep digging.

Please, share your experience with this script, it can be very helpful to me and others when improving this script.

Best regards,

Aeolis

Good to hear of your development success. :great:

ChrisR is currently on vacation, but I'm sure he will like to see this when he returns.

Galapo.

Hello Aeolis and Friends,

Could you help me, I need to install an HP 3600 and I'm not getting what steps you used with your HP?
- I started the printer drivers through the Driver Integration but does not install
- Started by LoadVgaDriver usb driver but not install
- Started the drivers on Autorun Script but does not install
Would you like a hint how you did install to get a physical printer.

Thank you

Yes, it's ok. The error was from decompression program (iZArc). With 7-zip it decompressed ok.
Now I try to deal with it !

Hi Aeolis,

I put your beta plugin to server
\Downloads\ComponentsY\Printer Support (BETA)
with syntax update, plugin file rename , tips, and links to current topic ....

Hopefully on server more easily found,
So Maybe someone work on it and get printer work on other projects than Win7PESE x86

ps: Besides some warnings, RequireDriver.exe not working on Win10PESE x64 test

If you can, maybe better to provide source codes of
RequireDriver.exe
RecExecFileList.exe
so one can update them...

Well so far some people interested to printer, nobody work on it yet ;)
well they were guys who can not use google even not being able to find your current topic  ,
besides someone is waiting there to take the printer mission.

:turtle:

Hey, I'm getting an error when trying to install the script using winbuilder (windows 10):
The error is:
"Unable to create directory:  [DirMake,%ProjectTemp%\%ProgramFolder%]"
Can anyone please help me with that?
Thank you so much!

Hello.
Please tell me what specific registry entries you are importing into the image.
Since there is no possibility to use winbuilder, I collect everything manually.

Thank you in advance.

Would you please write a new printer plugin that support Windows10 x64?
Thank you very much.
