Hi Everyone,

A quick messsage to inform that the Gena ZIP distribution packages have been updated today.

There have been close to 70 updates to the server since the last package update.

One important thing to note is the file 'WinBuilder077rc2 Starter.exe' at the base folder. Use this to start the project if you want to build with WinBuilder version 077rc2 (recommended for speed). This Starter (hopefully!) works around a WinBuilder.exe permissions bug in versions pre-080.

Regards,
Galapo.

MD5: D8C6EB44E019152F6D9847094340CEF5

but winrar says :
!   E:\Installers\Gena_Meal.zip_2013-02-19.zip: CRC failed in Projects\Gena\Apps\Network\Flash_Package.script. The file is corrupt

Hi gbrao,

MD5 is available on the page by clicking the date on the package line in question: http://gena.cwcodes.net/Compressed/

MD5 for Gena_Meal.zip_2013-02-19 is: 51c8386cb15d73399587f20babc8c13c

Maybe your download is corrupted?

Regards,
Galapo.

Ps. I updated the package generation so as to include the date of generation. Seems there is still an extra '.zip' I need to remove.

I made a hot-update to remove the extraneous '.zip' from the filenames.

Also includes a couple of other fixes.

Galapo.

I had to update a few of my scripts that's all.
share them where available

so we can put some of them to projects (ex: YankeeClipper3 already at Yomi ;))
hence they always work + and others share too   :great:

^ nothing worth sharing, really. Just replaced the exes in a few ( like IrfanView, BOOTICE, Defraggler ... ). I have them working for a long time and am scared (and lazy) to change the script itself, I only replace the zip ;-) .

BUT, I would like to report something weird. The last PE I made & used was built before GENA was born, so ...

I had a simple Recuva script to extract the portable Recuva (the zip file from the piriform site) & create a shortcut to the exe. It worked OK before.
Now I just built a new PE with Gena 2013.02.19 - and I find recuva does not work. When I run recuva.exe, I can see it in task manager but no user UI appears. I thought I had messed up the script, and kept on using the PE, then after about 10 minutes the recuva UI appeared !
I tried to run recuva using :
- my script.
- the 'official' gena recuva script with the embedded recuva.
- portable recuva from my hdd.
same problem.

They all run OK with my previous PE.
btw, I have no network related components in either of my PEs. It may have something to do with recuva 'phoning home', there is a long thread on the piriform forum about this.

If you don't mind, what exactly is "GENA" ? I'm sure others are wondering too.

Hi gbrao,

we already have uptodate bootice plugin, xnview so far prefered instead of irfanvie,
just updated Priform Defraggler and Recuva plugins, no such problem here   :great:
(+ I also did not add any network related things during tests)
if your troubles continues after testing plugins, than better on other topic.....

:turtle:

Looks like IE8 is the culprit. If I do not include IE8, Recuva works OK.

Edit : IE6 also causes the same problem.

i've been facing problems downloading from http://gena.cwcodes.net/.

i downloaded meal about 3 times. the md5 never matched. i extracted one, and used the update function of GENA. is this OK ?

i just downloaded appetizer, the md5 matches, but i find two starters in Gena_Appetizer_2013-02-19.zip\Projects\Tools\Gena.

and, the version is 666 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_the_Beast ;-) )

yes, I guess that should be OK. Using the Exact and Secure update function will sync with the server exactly anyway.

Are you using a download manager?

What do you mean by two starters? There should only we one starter "WinBuilder077RC2 Starter.exe" and one builder "WinBuilder077RC2.exe".

The number is symbolic and does not relate to PE projects. Also, I avoid superstition, so had no problem with uploading v.666.

i downloaded with opera, then with firefox.

open the appetizer zip, one starter has a lower case "rc" one has upper case "RC'. when extracting winrar points it out.

WinRAR does the same for me. Linux servers aren't like Windows ones, so I'd forgotten that a case-change wouldn't overwrite with an update.

I've rebuilt the ZIP files. There was a couple of important updates already since 19 February.

Galapo.
