Morning all. I have used UBCD4WIN for many years but have hit a wall with compatibility in new laptops. So, I am trying to build my first ISO with Win7PE SE and can not get it to work right. I have read the Tutorial and tried to follow it verbatium, but I seem to be failing somewhere. There are obvious differences in the tutorial and the current version. The download gave me both Win7PESE80_Builder and Win7PESE82_Builder and I have tried both. I have made about 4 ISO versions and none of them will boot past the "Windows is loading files..." screen.
I have used Win7 Pro ISO as my source, and yesterday I tried to used the Digital River X17-59463.ISO of Win7 Ultimate as Lancelot mentioned in another thread.

The only error I see in my logs is the following.
(Manager.script) FileCopy - Failed to copy [%BaseDir%\Temp\Win7PESE\TempExtractFolder\Plop_Boot_Manager\plpbt-5.0.14\plpbt.bin] to: [%BaseDir%\Target\Win7PESE\Boot\IMG\PLPBT.BIN]: The system cannot find the path specified.
But that file is on both the source and the USB drive in that folder and they are the same size.

I see these warnings also.
[Warning]  (BitLocker) BitLocker was not found in the current source
 [Warning]  (Manager.script) Halt
[Warning]  (Support_Log.script) More Information (NOT Warning):

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use a short path for your build folder and target?
Is any antivirus active?
Those are the first things to check... Then feel free to ask again.

Are you booting from usb? Have you tried different brands/ types?
Are your bios settings for booting from usb set correctly?
Sorry to hear you haven't had success yet, I hope others will offer hints as well...

Yes I am booting from USB. I have tried two dirrerent drives. But, I have also written the ISO to cd and DVD and neither of those worked either.
What bios settings should be set? I am trieing to boot on a Lenovo computer, open the boot menu, and select the USB drive. It loads to the "Windows is loading files..." screen and stops.

Looking at the tutorial, I notice differences in my Winbuilder version than the one I have made a screen shot of here.
Tutorial only has Win7PE SE in the tree on the left.

Mine has two items there.

ok, So I am going to detail what I am doing from the beginning based on the tutorial as I seem to get the same result every time.
My computer is Win7 Pro 64bit with Symantec Endpoint Protection v12 installed. Services stopped for Symantec SEP. I am trying to build a x86
I have downloaded both small and complete packages from newbielink:http://w7pese.cwcodes.net/Compressed/ [nonactive]
small is in C:\Win7PE complete is in C:\Winbuilder

WAIK is installed to C:\Program Files\Windows AIK and copied the files mentioned in the tutorial to C:\WinBuilder\Projects\Tools\Win7PE_SE\x64
Drive packs downloaded and extracted to C:\WinBuilder\Workbench\Common\Drivers_x86
Copied Windows 7 source media to C:\Win7Ux86

I am a local admin on the computer, and the domain, but i right click on the Win7PESE82_Builder.exe and select run as admin. UAC is turned off.

step 4c - the win7pe.winbuilder.net/se option is not there, so I am using the win7pe.winbuilder.net/projects selection assuming they are the same.

step 5 - copied BCDEDIT.exe to C:\WinBuilder \Projects\Tools\Win7PE_SE\x64\
copied these imagex.exe, wimgapi.dll , wimmount.inf , wimmount.sys , wimserv.exe to C:\WinBuilder\Projects\Tools\Win7PE_SE\x64 and x86

Why not try a standard build first. Just extract the small or complete package, let winbuilder worry about the waik files (Build/ Retrieve tools). Just try to make the first build as basic as possible, then expand later.
Only use a standard package with a 100% good source (sha1 checked?).

Yes, as Atari said, forget all your steps (Copy bcdedit, imagex.exe, wimgapi.dll,...)
The standard package with an untouched Windows 7 source, checked, is enough.
In a first step, unpack latest Win7PE_SE package without changing anything, select your Windows 7 in source tab, Source directory %SourceDir% and clic the big blue Play button.
It should work as for the others

After starting successfully, you can customize then
