Hmm... I'll have to extract the files for the DLL, as I edited them in GIMP, from within my new PE... i should just break out my GIMP script, much as I been using it...

Anyways, I didn't wanna use too much space on my desktop where I saved everything I edited, so i deleted stuff, and that Playlist flyout I been attempting to black out, hado some textures that I grew in height to get where I currently am, although I may shorten them back to original sizes and do a transparent blend, to fade from grey/black to the underlying color, if I cannot find a colorcode elsewhere to do what I want... besides, it only worked on the Media Library, and the player playlist looks  bright as ever, so again, there has to be a colorcode somewhere I can edit, at least i hope...

Hi WIEBENOR,

You really like Windows Media Player a lot and you like to work on visuals.

I am quite bad at visual related things, I still like old xp classical theme which not exists anymore....

But, I always support all kind of themes and visuals with plugins where possible.
From my perspective :
- I hope there will be a solution for ResourceHacker.exe failure ....
- And If one day you work on visuals (themes etc.) again and get satisfied with the results (media player or other things), share around.  :great:

Took me minutes to see the difference  :w00t:

GUI does not allow to use a dot, too.

I will be more careful next time with this kind of things .....

GUI does not allow to use a dot, too.
I did not test GUI that way before,
Using GUI
I can replace picture at LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG

You are right, rename do not work with LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG ,
one must delete dot first.... ->
eg.
LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG
-->
LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7PNG

this makes OK button operational.

I hope Angus get my e-mail and follow topic ...........

Hmm... not sure, but for GUI version, I just right clicked and hit replace, then navigated to the file of same name (to keep it simple to find) and select it, then hit replace... and as for the sharing of resources, I decided to keep the Playlist that creamy white or whatever it is, for now, as well as the playbar at the bottom, in library. And here is the asked for, and promised 7zip with my changes... they are just the minimum of changes, as I'm not good with figuring out overlays and stuff yet... as a disclaimer, this is only the customized resources, and not the WMPLOC.DLL file, also, I used these on the 64 bit version of Windows,(although they may work for both) and you need to edit the 8MB(or what the bigger one is) copy to use these... also, if files will not extract try a different 7zip, or let me know, and I can upload another...

**edit** i forgot 1 resource, which I'll have up in a minute...

So... i was doing more windows 10 testing, and found that not only does windows media player work, but narrator works as well, providing you open settings menu and re-select your favorite voice... wierd how things that I could never quite get to work on the system side, are starting to come together... as for my Windows Media Player testing, I have added my wmploc.dll file, and remade my WIM, and have just booted the OS, and Windows Media Player without any errors, as of yet(aside from those already mentioned that don't affect usage, in general... in a minute or 2 I'm going to test video playback capabilities, and will report back.

I don't use narrator much either, but it is nice to see that it is working, as it might mean that everything else, including built in start menu, if desired, can't be too far behind... that said, the windows media player, for whatever reason doesn't have the video resizing issues I expected, as I've had with older win 7 PEs, having to do with generic drivers, i think, and that is a welcome surprise, although I've only tried it with 1 PC, so who knows

@Oscar and ALL,

ResourceHacker.exe fails with files having . (dot) here
I could not find an escape char for dot, things I tried did not work ... I will try to contact Angus about that case... Maybe someone has an idea.

 Do you remember binmay

binmay LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG => LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7_PNG
reshacker test.png LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7_PNG
binmay LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7_PNG => LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG

With my reshacker GUI, it have menu to rename RESOURCE_NAME, but I can't find commandline option ...
maybe new version could do it ...

JUST a devious idea for fun...

Yes menu there, but not working with dot, try rename to something that have dot
eg.
Resource Hacker - open file  - wmploc.dll

Left tree:

\257\ALBUM_0.PNG
Right click - Rename this resource

This do not work (OK button disappears):
ALBUM_0......................PNG

This works:
ALBUM_0__________PNG

Maybe I am missing something ..... ?

ps: All Resource Hacker in my archive fails with the dot. It is I guess that way since the beginning....

Your commandline is not like mine. Do we use different ResHacker?

I can rename thie resource name with .(dot) in it.
Mine is 4.2.5, it is now 5.1.7 on homepage.
http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

PS: but even ONLY rename resource name, after save there are lots change for the dll(This file size is changed).
binmay is just change ONE byte.

 I swear It was in my mind to test weekend.

hope you got what you want on the resources replace work.

new Resource Hacker (v5..) have new syntax and it is not backward compatible ...

eg.
this works with Resource Hacker v4 (I guess also v3 ! ) (without dot)
Code: [Select]
ResourceHacker.exe -addoverwrite wmploc.dll, wmploc2.dll, test.jpg, 257,LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7_PNG,1033
but not with v5

check help to see differences :
Code: [Select]
ResourceHacker.exe -help commandline

ps: none v3 v4 v5 like dot from cmd anyway...

v3 v4 I tested with this:
Code: [Select]
ResourceHacker.exe -addoverwrite wmploc.dll, wmploc2.dll, test.png, 257,LIBRARY_BACKGROUND7.PNG,1033

*
I can rename thie resource name with .(dot) in it.
Mine is 4.2.5, it is now 5.1.7 on homepage.
Something new.
yes you are right, I test with v4.2.4.145

renaming on ui works.  :great:

v5 -> renaming on ui do not work here initially reported by JFX
GUI does not allow to use a dot, too.

hope you got what you want on the resources replace work.

Last time I spend some fun time with theme, a lot years ago with JFX and Olegpov, life

Recently, again some fun time with theme.  :smart:

Ok guys, not sure what the culprit in windows 10 is, but in windows 8.1PE I can go to the drop down box, and then go to "manage libraries" then click "music" and brings up the music library editor, whereas in 10pe, I cant... i assume it's because of that whole "windows explorer lockdown" that windows 10 has endured, to try and stop us modifying stuff??? Either way, WMP appears to work good on 8.1 as well, however, I have decided not to try it on Windows 7 as of yet, as lots of scripts seem to have a depenendancy for an "administrator" script... i may need to update my project, but im not sure... even common components don't wanna load without it... **edit** unless I looked in the wrong spot, the windows 7 PE doesn't even have an 'administrator' script on the server index!?!?!? Should I start a new thread for that, or can someone check it out, quick???

Hi slore,

to use binmay easily on plugins (and WimBuilder Patches), we need
1) at least ascii support to "Printable Characters" -> which is most the case we have.
or
2) a cmd file that converts "Printable Characters Ascii" to hex ...

Reason: It is not fun to convert resource names one by one to hex,
Each time adding or removing resource mask or file requires conversion to hex...
and making auto conversion on my side makes life quite harder and slower ....

life easier with gsar on the current case.. See you on next post.

Hi WIEBENOR,

Following your attachment, Reply 74 http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=1359.msg32009#msg32009

i dont have a resources file for you guys to 'res-hack' into it, but the wmploc.dll is nearly complete, for the main elements people usually see, except those glaringly obvious issues... just thought you guys might like to see a WMP setup that looks slightly different than the norm...

now we have "Theme - MS Windows Media Player - WIEBENOR" plugin.

Added to Win10PESE project as default, thanks a lot for your contribution.

Code: [Select]
Call,DownloadX,"%BaseDir%\Projects\Win10PESE\Tweaks\Theme\Theme_MediaPlayer_WIEBENOR_1.Script"
ps:
Downloading Plugins with a CodeBox:
http://TheOven.org/index.php?topic=2672.0

OR see
Lancelot Reply 65 http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=175.msg32401#msg32401

Some features of The Plugin:
*
First Run is slow, on the second run it is less than a second.
*
Have "Test Patch" feature,
-- You can test things easily.
-- If you are using your own patched wmploc.dll on your Host Windows, after each Windows update, you can quickly patch again.
(Better than ready wmploc.dll files on the internet I found around...  )
*
I have some ideas to improve Plugin later....

*****
Now we have resources with a Plugin to easily update wmploc.dll .

Feed us with your art works.  :smart:

Have Fun. :turtle:

Nice!!! I'll have to go and check it out, as I haven't been on here for a while, as I've had other things on my mind... yknow, car insurance, license tabs, and so on. just hit a deer couple evenings ago too, so that'll be around 200$ to fix the front bumper area. but, at least i may have some new test computers soon to use for PE build creation, if my County has any on our local firemans auction. They are usually good higher end dell models the last 5 years, so for 60$ I'll likely come home with 20 or 30, unless i want monitors too, which cuts that in half...(i spend around 6$ apiece at most)

Anyways, I got a bit off track, but, good job guys, and I hope to see more good things in the future for 8/8.1/10. ill check out that new script later today maybe.
