I was looking for something on the computer today and found ShowNicIco application what I wrote back in 2006.  :w00t:
This is for BartPE / Reatogo / Win PE 1.x projects with Explorer shell.
In the background is the detail that Explorer does not show Nic Ico in taskbar without rebooting, and we know it's not an option in Live Win.
OK, this is not necessarily required if used PENetwork so over him see data transfer.
For those who do not use it this little utility displays the familiar 2 windows ico for network cards in taskbar.
As usual, later appeared duplicates / clones.

So if someone needs it's right there.
Using the simple just to hit a moment of start, in Reatogo it was:
Code: [Select]
0x1,"Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\900","201","||xpeinit.exe -f -m ""Show NIC Ico"" ShowNicIco.exe"

; =========================
; Command Line Parameters
; =========================
; /h or /help or /?  = Show help dialog
; /nomsg = no display info msg

It was written with Autoit, it's not virus.

EDIT: Lancelot has kindly asked for a plugin so here it is
I hope everything is okay.
I do not have the resources to test but if some bugs come up we will fix it.
x86 and x64 source architecture are supported.

Code: [Select]
ShowNicIco.script MD5=8f8b17e27a8073ccc5b7ff0e53ab77a2

Enjoy

Thanks Nikky,

It is nice to see someone who is familiar with BartPE / Reatogo
ps:
I still use Gena on my home laptop to rescue since I can still access disk.

Can you attach both x86/x64 ? (Gena x64 exists  )

And if there is no secret, I would like to include source code via plugin like other plugins ?

*
btw, I guess Components\Network plugin on SE can get network work without PENetwork.
Does ShowNicIco have any help on such case, or SE already show icons properly with Network Plugin ?

Or I will put ShowNicIco to only Gena.

ps: I do not practice Network on PE, I mostly use PE for simple rescue.

x64 at that time?
Do not make me laugh
Unless you confirm otherwise, I think ShowNicIco is only for Gena.

Network work without PENetwork, but you do not have that convenience / options as with it.
You got pm.

x64 at that time?
Since 8 years and more.
And I was around on all steps,
I am the reason behind winbuilder support x64 host since I was using XPx64 Host 10 years ago. <-- Best XP

First Gena supports x64 (8 years ago)
Thanks to saydin77 who create The First PE1x64 (somewhere around ~10 years I guess)
With The First WOW64 Plugin by JFX.  :great:

You can laugh a lot.

http://gena.cwcodes.net/

(Gena is the successor to Saydin77 Builder), which is the first open-source, first multi-architecture, first multi-language supporting core.

See picture Gena x64 with Wow64

See *x86 on Task Manager That demonstrates Wow64 availability
and on CMD screen X:\AMD64

Tip:
**
Gena\"Config Source" Plugin
"Interface Gena ---> Button"
Select:
"D:\S\NT5\W2003x64Ent    (W2003 Ent English x64) X13_06218"

It should download W2003x64Ent (~650 MB) and create Gena x64

(You should have D:\  )

Alternate:
See
Gena\Utils\"Download Source" Plugin.

====> I have not tested for a long while now, let me know if something fails (which would be very minor)

I am sure Gena x64 give a smile to your face a lot (someone who knows BartPE, Reatogo ....)
It makes me smile a lot ~8 years ago.
  Still makes me smile.

I am sure you will spend some time with Gena x64, even only to smile

It is quite fast to download and build these days. (faster internet and pc after 10 years)

ShowNicIco tests on your hands.

You will have the opportunity to test before me.
Besides that,  it is necessary to correct the code to not exclude W2003x64 source.
Do you looked at pm?

Yes I looked pm

But I could not test... I come and go - to from <-> pc very quickly these days ...
I have a to-do list getting longer and longer ....
I can quickly update things like your recent FireFox proposal  rest very slowly ...... :turtle:

I will put ShowNicIco to Gena via plugin with "for x86 only" for today without testing .... Later after some tests .....

Gena via plugin with "for x86 only" will be quite okay,  so people can use if they need it.
I know the situation when the "to-do list" is longer and longer.

I'd rather have fun with another small application in the category no big deal but a man looks happier.
Soon more information ...

Thanks Nikky,

I fixed registry lines and cosmetics, here it is :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5mzortx87ws4tmw/201904061049_ShowNicIco.7z?dl=0

Simple compare (winmerge etc.) will show you the changes.

maybe you can include au3 via plugin.

I have

You are about to start this app on 'real' XP, are you sure?
maybe it is about me using W2003 English x86 source

Tip1:
See
Gena\Utils\Download Source

Tip2:
Better to use W2003 source with Gena

You have au3 source, I will not put it in plugin.

Could be,
Perhaps not the best sw solution, I want to detect is app start on 'real' sys or in PE as a precautionary measure.
It can also be turned off (comment out) in code.

I'm not too interested in Gena projects, it's past tense.  :w00t:

You know for M$ & manufacturers deal?
Intentionally not issuing a drivers for any "older" OS except for W10 s**t.

That's it

I agree I will "have to" use the latest PE on my next laptop. :great:

Still, It is fun here to use Gena on a modern laptop with Win10 (AusN65V) today (2019) .
I mostly do simple partition backup/restore/undelete on PE  rarely install Windows...

Good side,
I will not need to rewrite plugins again and again on my next PE.

+
ShowNic related things on your hands at the current topic,
I will put a Bulletin plugin or similar thing to Gena to point the current topic.
Update plugin on your topic post, and remove DUC buttons to avoid end-user failure
   ( simply delete lines Button_Download=... Button_Upload=... Button_CompareEdit=... )

:turtle:

Edit:
see dropbox link first.

You did not answer me the most important thing,
Should be changed apps (comment out "You are about to start this app on 'real' XP, are you sure?") ??

I will remove DL buttons and you will be free to put the whole plugin wherever you need.
I'll make changes in the first post.

To me yes changed. (comment out -> yes )
The plugin already makes the check.
And you know I always leave the decision to end user giving flexibility to use or test.  :great:

I just looked at the source code,
if instead of /nomsg you put /silent
then there are no any info msgs.

That's it for now, now returns to work

EDIT: Now it does not matter,
the task was done,
changed in the first post.

That's it
