Hi Galapo,

hehe, here is another "name" issue arise

I begin to feel "Gena World" is not a perfect name, project name and forum name being the same begin to make me feel not have much hospitality, too focused (obsessed) on Gena...
(yep true, I love Gena  :great: )
In my defense, I never thought we will have a forum before, always focused on being in a section of a forum where Gena name would be sufficient.

I think with new project name Gena, and with the name of ? coming girl, you are very experienced with names this year  and you know me well enough about the names

here my first ideas coming:
Arial
Berlay
Anice

?!?!?!
 :baby:

Names are hard to come up with, aren't they!

We haven't yet begun coming up with a list of possible names for the next baby.

Yes, as you say "Gena World" gives the impression that the forum is focussed on Gena -- which it is. Whether that's a bad thing or a good thing depends on the intention of the forum, I guess. I quite like the name actually. But I have no idea what we should call it if we were to call it something different (remember the trouble we had in coming up with Gena).

Regards,
Galapo.

Hi Galapo,

I am also not very excited finding a new name too,
I like 'Gena' name a lot and it is not easy to find something new..... (Besides as you mention, It is verrry harrd)

Better reserve this name idea to the 'time' ...
Maybe in time a name can come to mind (if so post here),
or maybe something bring us to find a better forum name. (project name perfect   :great:)

btw: ~3 months left, I advice you start seeking for a name to baby girl  :baby: maybe through searches you may come with a name for forum which did not fit baby girl for some reason but better for forum... it is hard to imagine where a good name idea come from..... :lamp:

You know, we'll be collecting boy's names too! We're sort of hoping we might get another boy -- we know what we're doing with boys since we've had two of them already.

But we don't have any say as to what we get, so we'll accept and love whatever comes.

Regards,
Galapo.

Certainly, I'm not very creative with naming things. Still can't get good ideas for the forum.

Looking at the main index, we're hosting discussions on projects, scripts, and tools -- so all I could thing of was 'PST - World of projects scripts and tools'. I guess forum would change to pst.galapo.net or galapo.net/pst (or whatever other name we can think of).

Regards,
Galapo.

Hi Galapo,

pst does not look good do me, reminds me something I do not want to remember  ....

And as far as people find here peaciful to share things releated to computers, we may need to increase organisations.

Here is an idea: Galapagose
Galapagos+e ("e" maybe something else, I did not like "pc" "forum" "chip" to add)
I know not original, I took the idea from you
but giving forum name Galapagose.net is so far original

Further:
Is it possible to change http://galapo.net to http://Galapagose.net (or what ever future forum name be) which would directly point forum.

Ideas behind:
*
It reminds your nick (naturally) but with better way = indirectly  which would avoid some kind of misunderstandings since you are very well known :).
*
I know Galapagos is famous with its own unique natural life.... which we are also aiming too.
*
Since Galapogos is a set of islands with different names, this may help us using these names (without searching around much) for some sections or some other 'name finding' tasks in future....
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/Galapagos_Islands_topographic_map-de.svg
*

Idea mainly looks good to me, using Galapogos with some way (adding "e" to end, or something else, maybe adding to begining !!)

so far what you think ????

Unfortunately, no -- that be an entire domain name change.

Well, let's work on the Galapogos idea and see how it goes. So I wonder what you think of naming it NeoGalapogos for "new Galapogos" since in this "world" it's not animal life but rather projects/scripts/tools/etc.? Forum could be something like ne.galapo.net or neogalapogos.galapo.net.

Regards,
Galapo.

himmmmm,

not having new domain for forum name is bad.... not a good begining...

anyway, than we well only change forum name title at http://galapo.net/forum (what you think moving forum to http://galapo.net !?)

sadly Neo is very "Matrix" ;).

Well, since domain is galapo.net which somehow reminding galapagos island , somehow reminding sea world
After thinking a while (checking on net...., )
than forum name, already having domain, can be "Cruise" , like "Princess Curise"

Hence,  on http://galapo.net forum,  having topic name Cruise, have a natural meaning  to anyone saying "all we are passangers of Galapo Cruise"

+ we can use 'names' used in sea world (ex: you are 'Captain' or 'Admiral' or 'Commodore')

I feel I hit something this time  What you think ?

Of course it's possible -- it just requires the purchasing of a new domain name and having it hosted.

I think if we needed to go with this, I'd prefer http://galapo.net/forum.

Hmm, that hadn't occurred to me. To me it's more Barthian (Neo-Orthodox).

Could be OK, we just need to decide whether this really is good and doesn't sound tacky. What do you think?

Yes I know.......
My main idea behind is links not being death in time by having right steps on new forum organisation thinking past experiences.......... But I also do not want this to be costy too, since we have galapo.net now than galapo.net it is.

I think if we needed to go with this, I'd prefer http://galapo.net/forum.
Okey, just keep in mind to put forum link very visible to homepage in future.

Yep, neo is very popular, but since Matrix movie, more people (especially the ones that do not know english well, like my girlfriend) know neo as name of Matrix Movie hero.

Could be OK, we just need to decide whether this really is good and doesn't sound tacky. What do you think?
It does not sound me tacky !!

In addition, putting something prefix to name referring computers: 'PC Cruise'  or ........

Anyway, than just a (to me very good) candidate to keep in mind untill final decision

Hi Lancelot,

Not sure if I'm up to this just at the moment.

If we change the address, I'll need to relocate the files and hex edit all the forum files to point to the new address so links still work. This may work,  but I'd need to test and see if it did before making it live.

So I think given that I don't have much time this week and then the family holiday after that, I'll postpone till sometime after that, when working on forum still will hopefully have an element of fun about it.

Regards,
Galapo.

currently yes,

maybe better to consider all at once, forum address along with new forum name, where we can start from begining in the way sanbarrow did
old http://sanbarrow.com/phpBB2/
new http://forum.sanbarrow.com/
or like au3 forum did (with archived forum at bottom)
http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/

with currently not a hugeee number to move things to new forum, such thing still manually possible......

and with your current experience, still having lots of time to decide, you can now re-select carelfully the most suitable forum engine :).
au3 forum engine with imaginary green theme looks nice to me.....

in mind, I believe everybody needs a honest, not gamed place to work on things (I closely know how bluelife also annoyed with other forums he joined in the past, in the end he had to continue in a closed forum),
with our past experience of how "games" played by "idiots" on forums, with not chasing click numbers, I am pretty sure you can lead like you leaded the old days of great pe1 times which bring Gena today.

now really time to go, see you.
