I want to share my experience booting Win81SE directly with ISO or from my USB key with BCD/WIM.

Note: By BCD/WIM method, my BCD entry did have the following options:
DisableIntegrityChecks True
LoadOptionStrings DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

I tested under VMWare, and 2 physical Laptops (Toshiba, Asus).
Following are the results:

1- In BIOS mode, no resolution problem restriction found, by booting with ISO or by BCD/WIM.
2- In UEFI mode with Secure Boot active or inactive:

- Booting with ISO has resolution restriction: 800x600 on Toshiba, 1024x768 on Asus. Control Panel/Display or Multires
cannot change to higher resolution.

- Booting by BCD/WIM has no resolution restriction.

Hi

may be adding "Basic Display Driver" will help. Select "Drivers\Original Display Drivers" script and make sure the tick box "Load at startup" is selected. Personally i am okay with 1024x768 resolution as i mainly use my PE for rescue and recovery purpose. I rarely even use web browsers so never had to worry about resolutions. But i guess it's just me.

@anshad

Thank you for your suggestion. I did not have "the Load at startup" option checked. So I just rebuild and the result is the same,
screen resolution is still restricted. Of course 800x600 it is not acceptable, 1024x768 is OK for me too. I guess since Network/Internet is available under PE, maybe a browser could be useful for anyone using Webmail, or accessing Facebook or having documents in the Cloud.
