I don't have an explanation on why it works for me and not for you
If you wish, I can take a look by comparing our 2 builds.
For that and to have the same configuration, makes a new build with the default configuration, untouched and by selecting "Basic Build" to make the ISO lighter.
And share it (mega.nz,...) with me by PM. If you want!

Don't bother bro' if it works for you the issue is by my side and i'll hunt and find it!

I tried your latest version and it worked !
So i'll try to custo it and see if i can reproduce the issue, may be it's one of the custo i've done that messed it up.

Thanks :)

EDIT:
For now the only issue is with the syswow when you Don't use it (uncheck WOW64basic) and check delete if not used those error pops up:

Hi ChrisR,
thanks for the build with 'Full Win10 Software hive' now working.
I love it because it ensures that the NEW menu is fully functional.

ila_rendered

Unfortunately, I now have another problem:
The appearance of Windows Explorer has changed.
I want to have back the look of Explorer without 'Full software hive', but still use the build with 'Full Software hive'.

Is there such a possibility?

I am unable to help you with your worries and yet we have the same project, techbench French x64 ISO and the same host Windows 20H2 64-bits OS.
But I don't reproduce anything (even if a full log would be better). It's probably related to your own additions.

Welcome harrybilly,
No, there is no such possibility.
The Default Software registry is really more consistent and appropriate.
I don't think it's worth using the Full Software Registry Just for the New Context Menu.

Hi ChrisR,
The 11.1.20 version does solve the black screen problem with the full software hive enabled using the 20H2 MS ISO.

Great quick work on fixing this!

I also had a problem with Win10XPE_2020-10-29
using Win10.2009.19042.572 x64 ESD Enterprise, The Win10xPE crashes on loading the USB
using Win10.2009.19042.450 x64 ESD Enterprise, with the same Win10xPE build configuration, loading USB completes without any problem.

Tested with Win10xPE_2020-11-01. problem with win10.2009.19042.572 still exist.
using Win10.2009.19042.572 EN-US x64 Business ESD Enterprise
Win10xPE crashes on loading the USB with BSOD and reboot.
No problems with 19042.450

Win10xPE is designed to support Original ISOs with install.wim inside. It is tested for them
So I tested it with techbench Original Windows 10 2009 - 20H2 ISO, 10.0.19042.508 (19041) and it looks good

In addition, I also tested the Cumulative Update Preview 10.0.19042.610, it also looks good
I have to try with the ISO created by the Media Creation Tool 10.0.19042.572 even if it is install.esd to convert

In 20H2 there are some registry issues and SxS version mismatch between winre.wim and Install.wim.
And also differences, Abnormal between boot.wim and winre.wim (which are normally close)
It is fixed in Win10XPE but 20H2 winre.wim does not seem at its best, it may be better to keep 20H1 (19041.264) without the 20H2 Cumulative update.

ChrisR,

So in Win10 20H2, you found differences between install.wim, boot.wim and WinRE.wim (registry issues and SxS version mismatch).
Are all the differences related to 32bit app support (WoW64)?

Hi ericgl,
It is for 32 and 64-bits as well as WoW64, it is unusual.
And since it is only a cumulative update (19041.264 vs 19041.508), I wonder if it's worth to use. I don't think for myself.

I tested it with techbench Original Windows 10 2009 - 20H2 ISO, 10.0.19042.508 (19041) and it looks good

Techbench Adguard ISO doesn't include Enterprise Edition.
I found a 19042.610 x64 EN-US Enterprise ISO on a German forum which I now used for Win10xPE 2020-11-01, and it's working well.
Thanks for your support Chris.

was pleased to see new build of XPE supports 2004 windows build so thought i would update my custom build - works fine apart from the pin to taskbar option of utils seems to be ignored

build my setup with 1809 and all icons are on the taskbar i have set - do nothing other than mount 2004 and all taskbar icons do not show

am going to play later but anyone any thoughts?

it is not possible (or no longer possible) to Pin Applications from a Removable Media
It is not a PinUtil limitation, it is by concept in Windows, to avoid pinning applications that might be missing.
I don't remember when Microsoft changed its Process but If it worked in 1809 and not anymore in 2004 or 2009, it is probably at that time

PinUtil works just like the Explorer Context Menu Pin option.
After giving it the appearance of explorer.exe, it queries the same Context Menu.
So, If it is possible to Pin from explorer then it is possible via PinUtil and If it is not possible then it is not possible via PinUtil too

AtariXXL asked this question on the MDL forum, and I'd like to ask here as well:
What specific newer/better capabilities do we get from the new WinPE versions (19041.xxx or newer) that we didn't have before?

I mean, I imagine that most uses for modded WinPEs, like Win10XPE, involve:
- Imaging and backup
- Repairing / modifying an offline or remote OS
- Removing malware, viruses, trojans from offline OS
- Temporary use of machine to guests

We can already do all that with previous versions. So what exactly do we gain from the latest WinPEs, other then just being "up to date"?
Not that I'm complaining or anything. Just wondering if anybody here knows something that is actually new, useful, that wasn't there before?

From my readings
20H2 adds the Edge Chromium, a new startmenu and some other minor new features
For boot.wim and winre.wim, apart from maybe few corrections and improvements, nothing new it seems
This sums it up, I think:
from whats-new-windows-10-version-20h2
Quote
There is no new ADK for Windows 10, version 20H2. The ADK for Windows 10, version 2004 will also work with Windows 10, version 20H2. For more information, see Download and install the Windows ADK.
