I understand about different projects and all. I picked this forum since the JAVA bs captcha garbage was less intense and actually allowed creation of a user (I see u realize this and have a forum section just for that!).
First I know what PE stands for, what about SE (special edition?) difference between it an standard?
Second why would 2 different project choose to use EXACTLY the same name?
I updated my HBCD and thought I'd checkout the Win7 version. The freesite hosting it was overlimits.
Someone suggested WinBuilder and was shocked that is 2 separate projects.
One that does not answer email, forum signup impossible to use and feels that a tiny command prompt is easier to use/see.
And you guys.
So am deleting the other and going to try this.
Just curious about the SE and logic behind using the same name?

winbuilder is the engine used to build a project. There are many winbuilder projects. The 4 maintained on this site are gena ( xp base pe ), win7 pe se ( win 7 based pe ), win 8 pe se ( win 8 based pe ), win 8.1 pe se ( win 8.1 based pe ).

There are 2 totally different versions of winbuilder ( the new version and the legacy version ). The version used by all the projects on this site is the legacy version which uses a winbuilder specific scripting engine and is no longer actively developed. The new java based version of winbuilder is currently under development and has one project and is not really ready for general use. The developers of both versions of winbuilder are to be found on the other site you alluded to.

The legacy version of winbuilder has a nice gui interface and script development environment.

The new java version of winbuilder is as you point out currently command line based. However as it is Java based it has the potential for supporting a gui interface in the future.

Thanks makes sense.
Installed this and had it up on usb in no time.
Looks like what I am looking for.
Look like it definitely needs a Network pack and maybe a FireFox plugin. but seems cool
too bad qemu fails

Thanks again

The "SE PE series" was originally started by me, while researching 64Bit WinPE.

YahooUK, had a basic project called Multi7PE that supported Vista and windows 7 sources.
I actually only wanted to add WoW64 support, but couldn't stop improving things.

So a new project was founded, called Multi7PE SE.
However caused by bitch, whining and sabotage on the old forum I stopped development.

Than ChrisR started Win7PE SE using the last Multi7PE SE.

I would add that JFX has continued to help on many critical things.
You should also know that Win8PESE and also Win8.1SE are also based on the original Multi7PE_SE structure, very stable.
I took the relay, somehow, with a hard work and without the knowledge and JFX's skills.
However, I learned a lot and I always tried to do the best I was able, with the help of many people.
A collaborative work, especially in my beginnings. Whether PESE projects should continue to improve, it will be like this.

I would point out, also, that there is NO financial goal here, source of discord explaining sabotage or games in posts.

For myself and for those who see me away, currently, I have many other things to finish before the holidays and I need a break. I'd be more present in September, maybe.

ChrisR, I was almost afraid you were going to end your post with "sadly I will have to stop..." or similar.

"I'll be back in September" is great to hear! I think it's OK if you take a break from the projects, they're running very smoothly here, I'm sure the forum can survive a few months without you (if everybody works together and helps where they can).

Have a nice summer, we can't thank you (you too of course, JFX!!!) enough!!!

Have a good break Chris! :surfing:  :beach_chair:

Being flat out at a new job, I'm conscious of not having been able to be around very much. Time ...

Regards,
Galapo.
