Fresh win8.1 SE build fails with "Critical_Process_Died"

I tried the new 8.1 build on a win7 pc completed the base run and got "Critical_Process_Died" when it ran in vbox.  I tried a couple more times with the same error and then deleted all security software from the pc no change.  I then installed win8.1 from the preview iso that is listed as the best source iso in the app, in a vbox vm and built it in there. same result.  I put it on a flash drive to make sure it was not the vm same result from the flash drive.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I have every time it goes to the windows logo for a few sec and then BSOD with critical process died.

I have tried a msdn iso of win8.1 as well as I have downloaded the official one.  I got an error with msdn about the explorer.exe not being correct so I could not complete the build with the msdn iso.  I then downloaded the enterpirse trial one as listed in the original post for 8.1 and was getting the process died message.  redownloaded the 8.1 builder extracted it fresh and made no changes to it except to point to source files  still crashed with same error.  wondered if it was due to building on win7 so I used the ent trial iso and installed it in a vm.  I then built the disk again from a fresh extraction of the builder on that vm same result of critical process died.   wrote the image to a flash drive and booted to it to verify it wasnt due to some oddity to the vm and got the same result on a dell laptop.
