Why are names of portable apps deleted from the settings after a build finishes ?
And why do the apps not get shown on desktop even if it was selected,

While Explorer++ Is on the desktop yet not selected to be in PStart ?
-Reason: Explorer was put in by another listing tool

APT gave the solution for the problem:
Problem-Solution: WinBuilder does not like" paste", So do not use copy->Paste, but instead use copy->Ctrl+V

Hi Passie
Well, I'm not a user of  PStart but if it's anything like portabilitron, you have to type paths and names or ControlV them, NOT paste (winbuilder bug), if you did, maybe it's that causing a prob.
Regards APT

APT, thanks for the tip will try Ctrl+V in a next test build. I did indeed use copy-paste, so that could be it, and i'll look at "Portabilitron". I found a video tutor for the tool and in that only PStart got explained. So will give the 2nd option a test to see if it gives me more stable results.

Hi Passie

you'll find Portabilitron on our server
http://win10se.cwcodes.net/projectindex.php

if you scroll down to Win10PESE/Apps/Portable

ps
click on name in left-hand column and save resultant script or rh click and save as

OR it's part of the basic project Win10PE_SE_2017-12-02
under \projects\win10pese\apps\portable

Thanks APT that fix indeed did the trick, Ctrl+V and all stays in the list

Curently testing Dir Name; folder/dir name, to be able to throw apps in per menu name folder
Tools were not shown when in group folder if group was not given in dir name
Saw Bob has made a listing addon, so giving that a try next ones i know how to save the profile, machine state.
Test failed btw can not use folders, so indeed should try another lister.

But just thought up a new idea, just creating a simple shortcut to a folder on my stick
Then i can simply reach my full folder and see all tools per catagory, and wont need a start menu anymore

⚫ How do we save a current state of WinBuilder ?
Then i can give that other listmaker tool a try without deletion of current setup

PStart and Papps, Fixes Ideas, WinBuilder GUI: 4 Developing Team

= Delete function for deleting an added tool, row
Now we need to clean Apps Dir, exe name, Menu name, Shortcut name
A box in front of the selected row, could be selected, then delete button on top, like at email
Then the complete row would be deleted in 1 go and you wont end with empty spots of tools we remove in the list. Cosmetic i know but row delete be very handy.

Not important, just comfort:
- Scroll down inside screens of WinBuilder is not active, and if you move side slider then window does not follow

- Adding paste option for copy paste
Is easy work around, = use Ctrl+V to paste, then your added info wont disappear from the list.

Idea:
Can't "Directory Lister", be helping to gather information to automate the list settings of PStart within Builder ?
Directory name, exe name could be auto found, then user does Menu, Shortcut name

For WB I used to just copy the whole basedir before I knew how to find and fix changes I made that broke things...  It saved me many times in the beggining...  My advice in general is try not to make too many changes at once and then you will be able to identify exactly where the issues are if anything ever happens..

For PStart, it is possible to make a cmd ps1 or au3 file that will search directories and add info to pstarts ini file during boot but it would need a lot of error checking built in and filtering for unwanted exe's (or very meticulous file placement before running the custom created tool)

Bob - Yeah realized that as well. Now decided to only put tools on WinPE that i really use a lot. First loaded all WinPE boot cds and ripped all tools from them. Got to 10 gb in tools only, first wanted to drop all of them in the cd to make the most complete WinPE i could create. But putting it on the menu is so much work that i decided to not do that. I'll just make a good working basic boot cd or use yours or the ones others make, and then just drag my 10 gb folder with tools on the boot cd. Then ones i need to repair, i put a shortcut on the desktop to that folder, and that way have 10 gb of tools i can use on any of the boot cds i put on my usb stick. Then the boot cd also does not have to start loading the installed portable tools as it sits outside of the boot cd.

I'll have a look at Directory lister and will try to create a txt that contains all tools in their category folder. Might be handy for new members to see which tools do what and to see what is available. If the moderators look at that as giving too much then they can and will just delete it. If they allow it then we'll have a tools database from it ;) And if boot cd creators want to avoid ripps. You could place the portables in the other folder, i would find it there as well as i look at size of folders, but all in program folder makes it real easy to rip obviously. Might be a thing to considder if this hurts the ethics of boot cd creators :) But don't think that be a problem as all tools on it are freeware and not owned by boot cd creators.
