I wrote This guideline for another project I'm getting ready to share "Restore My PC".
Boot to Win7PE from any Hard Drive partition or USB device w/o wim file all files extracted to
Desired partition.

This configuration gives me the ability to install Programs such as flash, Import drivers, Update
antivirus, create shortcuts etc. All from an online running PE environment!!!
When you Reboot all your settings will still be there (Registry settings aren't saved)

The basic idea should work on any Win7PE config with all the apps you wish to use.
Haven't tested on x64 but it should work.
Any how check it out and please give me some feedback.

* Win7PE Settings.txt (3.34 kB - downloaded 277 times.)

For USB Flash Drive I like RMPrepUSB
Download link and a complete tutorial can be found here  RMPrepUSB

WARNING! If using a USB hard drive Do NOT use RMPrepUSB , especially if it already contains multiple partitions.
RMPrepUSB will delete all existing partitions and reformat as one partition.
You can partition or format like a normal internal HD and I like BootIce for MBR PBR manipulation.
If you use windows to partition and format your USB HARD DRIVE it will set MBR and PBR to BOOTMGR
Set desired partition as active and copy files from Win7PE\Target\Win7PE SE to desired partition

Well, avoid using "winbuilder" since it does not mean what you refer at all (which very mostly the case),
 it is only a batch processor (like cmd) that runs its batches (with misnamed script) and as you know anything with batch(s) is about batch(s) not cmd :>...
   ex: like your hta, batch things you mentioned before...
    with other words: your tutorial fits Win7PE SE and Win8PE SE, not wb, not any other project :>.

ps: Also I prefer "plugin" instead of misnamed "script" since plugin as definition depend on where it belongs to, which in our case projects at theoven.org ( Win7PE SE, Win8PE SE , Gena) , plugins around here will very mostly not work on any other projects out of box, fitting plugin defination  :wink:

*
"WinBuilder Settings" would be "Win7PE SE Settings"  or "Project Settings" , up to what you refer.

WinBuilder Settings.txt -> Win7PE SE Settings.txt
along with things in tutorial and topic post

ps: such correction also would lead better tutorial to other builders in time, Win7PE SE & Win8PE SE quite popular that have "copy cats" which will all fit your tutorial.

*
+ ScriptManager at Gena\Utils)
-->
+ ScriptManager at \Utils\"ScriptManager")

ScriptManager exists on all projects around here at same location \Utils\"ScriptManager"

==>
ps: better name your setting file refering project name like:
ScriptManager-agent47_50.ini --> ScriptManager-Win7PESE-agent47_50.ini --or maybe--> Win7PESE-agent47_50.ini
that would avoid confusion :>

as you know "Just copy all files from .... to desired Hard Drive Partition or USB Device." is not enough,
 you can add intro to get ufd ready by using one of
\WriteMedia\"Copy to USB-Device"
\WriteMedia\"Copy to USB-Device BCD BootMGR"
 :wink:

other cases of internal harddrives , 2nd partition of first drive etc. also requires bootmanager ready configured, which are easy but other cases....

*
We have a java plugin at Yomi
Yomi\AppY\System Tools\"Sun Java JRE"
that need to be checkd to work on Win7PE SE , Win8PE SE, since not tested it is blocked (with first line under [process]

Aside, I advice you to learn AutoIT , #1 Script tool , also verrry popular on PE world (without AutoIT we would not have these projects), and does not require dependencies like java, hta (IE8) etc.

I hope above helps

I know I'm a noob, hope I didn't break any rules.

Java is more powerfull than the basic script I'm using. I looked briefly at VB Studio and didn't like it.
I know AutoIT is very popular and I've already decided that would be my next step, but I don't think I'm
ready yet. No training no one helping me and the VB, HTA language is easy for me to understand.

Downloaded AutoIT a couple weeks ago, haven't studied it yet. Could you recommend a good info site
I should start studying the script language. This is all a learning process for me and I appreciate the help.

I use rmprepusb to set up ufd and he has a lot of good tutorials on his site. (Is it OK to Reference his site)
I don't want to be a burden and thanks again for all your help.

download AutoIt from here and install
http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/downloads/

than download editor here and install
http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit-script-editor/downloads/

and you are ready :)

Than on Start Menu open "AutoIt Help File" and go to:
Contents->Function Reference->Message Boxes and Dialogs-->MsgBox
Click "Open This Script" (at very bottom on right) (ps: yess, this is Real Script, not fake as with wb )
==> SciTE Editor will open it
and on SciTE press F5

you make your first AutoIT script  :great: :great:
 I am sure with your previous experiences, you will very quickly go further  :wink:
   AutoIT help chm is very well on first steps  :cool:

AutoIT being windows script engine (not like c++/mingw python etc.), quite compact (unlike java etc. ) and very powerful (unlike vbs etc.) to be used on windows (limitation to be used only with windows).  (+easly compilable to get standalone) Maybe it would better to be called "Super Script WinEngine"  :tongue:

You can find lots of additional tutorials for AutoIT on internet around, first look its official forum page  :wink:
 besides as I mentioned, your previous experience would get you quick headstart  :cool:

rmprepusb fine, but not have distributable license last time I checked, I prefer BootICE being distributable less complex gui,
 and some others prefer BootICE for its command switches to automize creating bootable disk/ufd/etc..
  sure you can give link to rmprepusb site if it is what you prefer.

You are not burden at all  :cool: besides better spend some more time to check plugins on all 3 (+1+1) projects,
 remember they are very connected to eachother on organisation providing mannnny stuff in between which you may also take interested,
  overall it is quite fun time when you test things since you can test most results easly with emulator  :wink:
   Overall that will result on better tutorial of yours  :great:

I just updated my post and guide text

I suggested RMPrepUSB because it might be easier for less advanced users.
I use BootIce for almost everything.

Severe Thunderstorms last night another large tornado and flash flooding.
I haven't slept in over 2 days time to crash.
